I took the wife on a trip around the northern and western section of Pennsylvania on my X1W which was a bit of an ordeal. Somewhere along the line the bike ended up with a Chinese Battery before I bought it. What a piece of crap. The battery case actually raised a huge blister up by the positive post and then it failed in a parking lot. We were able to get a jump and finish the trip by not stopping but do yourself a favor and NEVER, EVER buy a Chinese battery. Yuasa replacement en route. The brand name on this piece uh shit was Power Sonic, a name which shall forever live in infamy at the Ford household. |

Battery just died in my 99 X1. I replaced it with a genuine Harley battery in the year 2003. Damned thing went a neart impossible 11 years! All my other bikes get around three years or so out of a battery. |

What? You were less than pleased with the products of General Tzou's nephew's factory? The one where they promised they would install ventilation in the lead smelter someday? The factory where the quality control dept exists only on paper? I'm shocked! Every Chinese battery I've ever bought was crud. Brand new and about to die. I had to replace the original battery in my '01 Cyclone last year. Had a bit of sticker shock when I replaced it with a HD brand battery.....but it works. Don't get me going on chinese solar panels......I just got back from camping and they were in the trash in abundance. |

Deka makes the HD batteries from what I understand. Half price at your local sportbike dealer. |

Don't confuse me with facts. I choose to be stubbornly jingoistic about this.

I like it when lithium is introduced to oxygen. No thanks on having that under my seat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRKK6pliejs |

Deka is an interesting company that is privately owned mostly by the original family. They (management) are in a rural farming area and they control and recycle to an amazing extent air, water, acid, lead etc. They have their own smelter onsite and they are able to have a level of control over their products that is hard to have these days. If something is not perfect they can easily just toss it back into the smelter for a full do-over. As a private company they don't say much but they do say that sales are doing very well. They have been in acquisition mode where it makes sense. They are quite happy to pit their products against competitor products. They are experimenting with large containers of batteries and inverters that can hold the high voltage grid up for a few seconds while grid supply generation resources are brought online smoothly. Interesting stuff. |

I like it when lithium is introduced to oxygen. Lithium looks perfectly fine to me when exposed to Oxygen (air) in that video. However it's when Lithium is introduced to water that things appear to get interesting... If you're that concerned, just don't wash your Lithium battery then! 1313 |
