Seems like it's been a while since we had a music thread. Here's "Upsetter" from Grand Funk's E. Pluribus Funk album. What are you listening to? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6T-FaRiNK-g

I've discovered two good radio stations for my night time listening. One I can do whilst driving through the night. That would be Stray FM from Harrogate N. York's. The other. Radio 2 from Dubai, which I discovered whilst driving a hire car there. Thanks to my iPhone TuneIn radio app, I can listen in bed several thousand miles away. http://www.strayfm.com/ http://tunein.com/radio/Radio-2-UAE-996-s25871/ Rocket in England

Old 97's "Most Messed Up" cd. Picked it up at my new favorite CD store in the twin cities after listening to an interview with Rhett Miller on Sirius' "Outlaw Country" station. First cd I've paid retail for in a while....usually buy them used. Bummed we missed them at First Avenue earlier this summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UVIeV94o4I (Message edited by fltwistygirl on August 13, 2014)

Recently discovered "melodic dubstep" which seems to be the music of Claptrap from the "Borderlands" games. Kind of Tangerine Dreamy techno goth....... with hour plus long mixes..... not bad for cruising tunes or background as you work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3vwLoDSBLQ But I admit I'm a "progressive rock" fan, so Yes, Rush, Kansas, etc. figure high in my playlists..... Then I bother to read a little on the subject, and as usual, find I'm ignorant as could be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock Music seems to infinitely subdivide it's genres. The best music is the poetry of it's day, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" vs. 99% of the crap out there...... no contest. I have to say I'm impressed with Lorde's lyrical power. And still liking Pentatonix.... acapella to the next level.

I've been listening to old and recent Johnny Winter. Here's a good cut from his last CD, "Roots", featuring both Johnny and Derek Trucks on slide guitar: BTW- I stumbled across a neat fact this week; Johnny's great-grandmother's maiden name was "Buell". I posted it on Erik's FB and he responded "I'll be darned." How cool is that? (See the "RIP Johnny Winter" thread for a picture of the tomb.) RIP Johnny.

Listening to a little more Johnny tonight; the first tune off of his upcoming last-ever new album, due out September 2. Johnny Winter and Ben Harper doing an old Elmore James tune, trading some great slide guitar leads: Yep, Johnny still had it...
