Other nearby hotels include Big Lynn Lodge: http://www.biglynnlodge.com/, the Switzerland Inn: https://switzerlandinn.com/, and La Petit Chalet http://www.lapetitechalet.com/, all west of Skyline a few miles. I should have at least a couple of extra event T-shirts for sale (final price TBD; less than $20): And I should have some spiffy nametags like this you can fill in so everyone can know who you are: Let the discussion continue... |

Pardon me, but I have to re-post: Ummm- I unfortunately no longer have a Buell, and no way I can afford an EBR now. The nametags are kewl otherwise. Given the trouble and cost of producing/printing said nametags, it'd be OK to just get the "Hello, My Name Is" generic ones. BTW, I'm Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. |

My 18 month Honda Ascot resto will be completed today. Finally found and repaired the nagging oil leak last weekend. (gear switch seal) Only a couple of small things left to do. Carbs probably need a final adjustment so I won't be taking it for the all day ride until that's done, but I WILL be bringing it up. The XB will have to sit this one out. See you guys in a couple of weeks! |

Ummm- I unfortunately no longer have a Buell, and no way I can afford an EBR now. There'll be several people not riding Buells, but I figured you guys wouldn't mind a Buell-related name tag. You can always write "used to" and cross out the "s" in rides. Congrats on the Ascot completion, Twig. I still need to put a new battery in mine... 13 days and counting... Hey all- I've joined the "RAT" board for Triumph owners, but I've yet to track down the best sources for Triumph parts- who here might be able to point me in the right direction(s)? Needing a proper exhaust can to make that triple sing... Holla! |

I've got a trident slip on for my '06. Sounds great, but is slightly loud for my taste, but not loud enough to have turned the head of any LEO's. IMO it looks right for a triple, but in reality it's a 3-1-3 design. I'm guessing your sprint has the muffler hung on the side though. I've got a great Triumph dealer near by so rely on them for my Triumph parts needs. They tend to suggest Arrow exhausts, but it looks like they don't offer anything for the earlier model Sprints. Best real help I can offer is that a quick internet search comes up with this... http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/scorpion-factory-oval-slip-on-exhaust-triumph-sprint-st-955-isprint-rs Searching the Rat site might be your best bet. Options look slim for that bike. BTW, I love the look of those Sprints. Cant wait to see your version of a dress up. Here's the Trident on mine...

Good catch Sifo- dangit if I have to pay that much for a can, hopefully I can track down one for at least a little less. I'll have to search the RAT net a little more and see what happens. If I HAVE to blow that much $$$, SOB it. You know as well as I do that the triple music needs to be heard properly. |

Looks like trident still makes a can for the 995. What the price comes out to in our monopoly money, I'm not sure. Getting one in time for this ride??? Might find one used. http://www.trident-exhausts.co.uk/page-silencers_s print-st.php |

And fleabay has some low cost options... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Danmoto-JISU-Exhaust-Trium ph-Sprint-ST-RS-1998-2004-98-04-EX624-/23109932600 7?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ce97 de37&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/GP-Conical-Exhaust-Triumph -Sprint-ST-RS-1998-2004-98-04-EX623-/231099325996? pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35ce97de 2c&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/GP-Carbon-Exhaust-Triumph- Sprint-ST-RS-1998-2004-98-04-EX621-/331069873413?p t=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d154d5d0 5&vxp=mtr I'm not sure if this actually qualifies as a muffler... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Sprint-ST-955i-exh aust-XB-1999-2000-2001-2002-2003-2004-Extremeblast er-/140957079346?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories& hash=item20d1b25732&vxp=mtr I'm guessing you might get what you pay for, but for an older bike, how much is reasonable to spend? I can't say that I have any experience with any of them. |

You're thinking like I'm thinking, Sifo- jeez, but only the CF version of that Scorpion is still available, for $450!!! F dat. Wonder if KDfab would take a shot at updating the can on this thing. Other than the CF high dollar one, everything else looks like a turd. Oh well. I could always break out my own dang drill and do a redneck custom exhaust... |

What are the camping options? |

A "custom" should be pretty easy to do with a lot of cans available. Might have to cut the riser pipe off of the stock can. Or redneck it. Cut it open and mess up the innards. Then wrap some sheet metal around it and pop rivet. Done right it may not be bad. Done poorly, you can still cut the riser off to fit to another can. |

The only place I can think of off hand is Curtis Creek near Old Fort. It's free, with a bath house as well. Other than that it's pretty primitive. Nice area though. There may be some campgrounds near by, when I lived up there, we just went out in the woods... |

If ya google "campgrounds in spruce pine nc" you'll find pretty much everything. Spruce Pine is right beside Little Switzerland |

Tell ya what, Sifo- chances are, I'll be showing up with the stocker. Might just work up some kind of cosmetic fix, just looking at it now makes me hate it- once Vern does his thing, I'll HAAAATE it. Don't get too worked up about it... if you come across a sensible option, I'm all ears. Thanks already for your interwebz halp. I'm not really surprised to see my available options so crappy. NBD. Bottom line is, looking forward to some great riding and camaraderie! |

No worries. Just sitting at home watching it rain today. The red neck option my be best left for when you have had time to really think about it, not right before needing it done for a trip. Actually it's almost time to throw a roast on the smoker! |

The 2014 Ninja 300 ABS Special Edition has arrived. I think we may go out for a ride this afternoon. Gotta get him ready for 3 hours of early morning slab duty on the 26th!

That's the slickest "little" bike I've ever seen... what's fun to think about is the fact that even stock, it's a great bike- with an aftermarket can or exhaust, plus tuning, it'll run extra good... sky's the limit! On another subject: To finish the Triumph, I'm needing something very specific- about 8+ feet of "checkered flag" pattern stripe/pinstripe, no wider than your average Scotch tape, fine if it's a little thinner. I've checked the hobby stores, auto parts stores, no dice yet... hoping to not have to go the custom ($$$) route if at all possible. Figured I'd post here before doing the Google thing... if anyone has good leads on this, holla! |

Check for a local place that does graphics on cars. They can print up what ever you want on vinyl. Best to apply with soapy water and a rubber squeegee to work the water and bubbles out. Pretty easy once you get the idea. I'm sure they could apply it in a matter of minutes. |

Can we take turns doing timed laps at Little Switzerland on that 300? I don't know about that... you'll have to ask Tyler. I'm needing something very specific- about 8+ feet of "checkered flag" pattern stripe/pinstripe, no wider than your average Scotch tape, All I can find online is either 1.88" wide or 2" wide... and most of it is duck tape |
