No Cheney put us there. Halliburton made millions of our tax dollars. Thief.
Cheney, depending on the time frame you are discussing was either not in a position to put us there, or was not in a position to gain from going there. Why did Hilliary support the second Gulf War? If it were total BS, wouldn't Bill have tipped her off? Honestly, think about that for a moment.
Since, you admit, that his "plan" was to restart his WMD program means that they didn't exist yet. That was the justification for war was it not.
The fact that much of Saddam's WMD programs were stalled from the first Gulf War, doesn't mean that weapons didn't exist. I've talked to a weapons disposal person who was working on destroying Saddam's weapons caches. Suddenly in the middle of burning of "conventional" weapons, the chemical weapons sirens would go off. Those weapons were there. Let's for the sake of argument though, simply assume that they didn't exist... In your world the best thing would have to get out of Iraq, and let Saddam go back to his WMD programs. Do I have that right? Doesn't that bring us full circle? In other words, your solution is not really a solution at all.
Saddam Hussein. You all seem to forget that he started this little shit fest back in the 90s when he rolled into Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, etc. It's all the same endeavor, and all started for the same reason. Halliburton had zero to do with it.
"I'll try! How about "Militant Jihadist Muslims"? "
I think you're mixing up your Muslims.
True. Looking at what's going on now we can see that it was the "moderate" Muslims causing the problems. Now we are seeing the militant jihadist Muslims. "Too extreme for AQ!"
Hey FrankFred, You've made it clear that you think going to war over oil is a bad thing. Care to explain your thoughts on our bombing of Libya? That actually was about oil contracts for the French. I can only imagine your disappointment with BO on that one.
We've gone to war in VietNam and lost to the communists.
We lost that war? Only politically here in our country. In country they were beaten after the Tet offensive. Not totally unlike Iraq, in Vietnam we won the war and managed to squander the victory through liberal politics.
>>>>I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't providing aid to the Taliban
You're late. He has already returned their top, equivalent to his Presidential Cabinet, to power and is releasing . . at a rapid rate . . other terrorists for things like "positive attitude" and "taking up yoga".
Fred shows an ignorance of every subject except Alinskyite lies and obfuscation.
Still no proof of WMDs.
I'll have to ask for a clarifying lie from FF on that one.
The ones found by us and our allies, the ones destroyed in the brand new Brit built incinerator, the ones used by foreign fighters in Iraq on civilians and US troops that they thought were high explosive, but were poison gas, or the ones buried by dumping them in the Euphrates?
Which of the above did your "professor" and you miss?
Or was it the poison gas used on Iranian troops, or the poison gas used on Kurdish civilians, or the poison gas documented by the UN?
Just checking.
As to real business.
Obama's policies led directly to the ongoing fall of Iraq to Obama's buddies.
Bush certainly deserves some condemnation here by not doing a better job of setting up a puppet government that would actually sell US the oil at a discount. Instead, they sold it on the open market, not to us, at full price. ( except for the deal with China ) Way to go you incompetent Imperial Oil Stealer!
Libya OTOH WAS a War For Oil. For the French. And to help AQ, it seems.
And of course there's the Stalinist Obama Regime who has threatened Border police if they take pictures of the flood of kiddie/teen undocumented D voters. Kept the press from freely reporting on this problem. Especially the sex slave boom.
And continues to encourage the flood by promising free food, shelter, legal aid, and healthcare for criminal trespassers. Who here when he & Congress decreed a defacto open border and open amnesty.
And according to RTV, masterminded or was a puppet of the EU Oligarchs and overthrew the legal government of Ukraine.
I presume the new guy is a campaign contributor?
If Kaddafi had just signed up for the $500,000.00 bribe your President club, ( seats still available, see Obama.com ) maybe he'd still be in power.
" I can only imagine your disappointment with BO on that one."
You are correct.
"We lost that war? Only politically here in our country. In country they were beaten after the Tet offensive. Not totally unlike Iraq, in Vietnam we won the war and managed to squander the victory through liberal politics."
I think you need the history lesson
"I must have missed that one."
My mistake. Of course I meant Iraq.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't providing aid to the Taliban to take over by the time BO leaves office."
That's ludicrous not matter what Court says.
And no matter what claims Aesquire digs up from her bottom feeder sources, there were no WMDs found in Iraq.
"We lost that war? Only politically here in our country. In country they were beaten after the Tet offensive. Not totally unlike Iraq, in Vietnam we won the war and managed to squander the victory through liberal politics."
In military terms, the United States was the victor of the Tet Offensive for the Communists did not succeed in maintaining control over any part of South Vietnam. The Communist forces also suffered very heavy losses (an estimated 45,000 killed). However, the Tet Offensive showed another side of the war to Americans, one which they did not like. The coordination, strength, and surprise instigated by the Communists led the U.S. to realize that their foe was much stronger than they had expected.
Faced with an unhappy American public and depressing news from his military leaders, President Lyndon B. Johnson decided to end the escalation of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

The short of it, they were beaten militarily. We beat ourselves here at home politically.
Nice to see you post those timeline events Ukraine, Digi.
Did it not dawn upon you two of them are written from the same news sheet?
Whatever they are they are the propagandous rantings of the not so free press. The big league who've been directed by their respective governments (yours and mine then) to play ball or else.....
You buy that shit coz you're so blinkered with your glorious support of your nation you'll by any shit told to you. I could have wrote either of those timelines based on what I've already posted here. It's an interpretation of the truth which we are supposed to see. I choose not to because I can see the bigger truth. Sad you can't. More sad you're not on your own by millions.
Won the battle but LOST the war. What don't you understand?
It's funny to see you take something that was sandwiched between
quote:
In military terms, the United States was the victor of the Tet Offensive for the Communists did not succeed in maintaining control over any part of South Vietnam. The Communist forces also suffered very heavy losses (an estimated 45,000 killed).
and
quote:

Seems to be the very definition of taking something out of context.
Given that Tet was the last ditch effort to make military gains, and it completely failed, the war was lost for them. We made a political decision to make it our loss. It's a shame you can't see that.
"We made a political decision to make it our loss. It's a shame you can't see that."
That is totally false.
Totally!

Hey FrankFred, I'm just curious... Does completely trashing your credibility come easily to you, or is it something you work hard at. In all seriousness, if you feel the need to disagree, it helps tremendously to have SOMETHING material to point to that backs your viewpoint.
How's that? Is that something material to point to? You've supplied the support of my point but you read only what you want to read. But that's typical.
Lets just drop a few thousand paratroops into bagdad... you know... paratroopers like THESE with updated 2014 technology... with cameras and remote detonators and big boom anti-personnel devices. And while they looking at the sky... send in a few hundred of these: GLADIATORS
How's that? Is that something material to point to? You've supplied the support of my point but you read only what you want to read. But that's typical.
Yes it was a bloody fight against a formidable foe. That is always depressing news from the military. The bib picture though, and the bottom line...
quote:
In military terms, the United States was the victor of the Tet Offensive for the Communists did not succeed in maintaining control over any part of South Vietnam.
In other words, from a military aspect the Tet offensive failed to gain anything militarily. They controlled NOTHING on the battle field. It was the decision of Johnson who once bragged that the military can't blow up a latrine without his authorization who made the political decision to pull back. It really is pretty black and white.
I wonder what a few thousand of these would sound like coming at you at night...modified with anti-personnel devices and night vision cameras and rifles... each soldier could be issued one of these robots along with their M16... send in the robots first!
What is black and white is that we pulled out and North Viet Nam took over the South. After all the losses, what did we gain - nothing. Anybody in their right mind would concede that we lost the war. But then again....
