The Republicans Don't HAVE to do anything. Health care is NOT a national event. Your fat ass sitting in front of the TV, getting fatter Your smoking, your drinking, your failure to get to the doc to even find out if you have high blood pressure is NOT a national event. If your health is not important enough for you - yourself - to PERSONALLY - do something about it - then what f'n stretch of the imagination do you think I should give a flying shiat about it. I don't. And here is the real issue - neither does the 'loving' Obama. You are data feed to him, a growing herd of subservient culled voting pool that is on the dole and ready to be manipulated for whatever the next low information voter #hashtag this administration thinks is 'critical' or a crisis. Take a look at the current VA scandal - do you REALLY think government health care is a good idea ? I'm placed in the unusual position of having a rare conflict of interest in this healthcare thing. On one hand I hate it. On the other hand, I profit (potential) immensely from it. It's going to be interesting to see if the American people can exercise common sense and get their head out of their ass. Economically, I'm indifferent as to which way they go. But much of me wants to see this "planned to fail and did" plan stuffed up someone's ass. | ||

It is a classic pump and dump; it was designed to fail in five years; and then they could impose a national plan of single payer. It is however - failing faster then they expected....and I do not believe they will get the full three year run on insurance underwriting bail outs and subsidies ; I think it crashes before then. but there is a way out of it. and it hedges the failure nicely. It works on market driven consumer based principles, and functions in shopping like Uber, or AirBnB. pity none in the US wanted to move on it; the Asian markets seem much more open to the idea. It is going to be a buzy year. | ||

A question was asked the other day to opponents of Obamacare whether they wanted everyone to have health care. This study shows Obamacare will have the exact opposite intended effect. I have already posted multiple times about how to fix health care while keeping it in the private sector (so go find it yourself). The government has a proven track record of failure and incompetence so it clearly can not be trusted. New Study: Obamacare Will Actually INCREASE the Number of Uninsured By Kevin Boyd  A new study was released which shows that Obamacare will both increase the cost of health insurance and increase the number of uninsured. Professor Stephen Parente and Adjunct Professor Michael Ramlet did an analysis of Obamacare and its projected effect on the number of uninsured over the next ten years. He found that the number of uninsured will go up starting in 2017, due to the declining purchasing power of the government subsidies. Parente & Ramlet also found that health insurance costs will increase by nearly $1400 for those individuals with “silver” plans and $4200 for families with “silver” plans. The Parente & Ramlet analysis ia the Washington Post: Nationally, we estimate an initial decrease in the uninsured with greater use of the private health insurance subsidies, but over time health plan prices are likely to increase faster than the value of the insurance subsidy. As a result of the declining purchasing power of the insurance subsidy, the implementation of the qualified health plan requirements and the end of the reinsurance and risk corridor programs we estimate a significant reduction in the private insurance market in 2017 with steady declines continuing for the rest of the decade. A few other important notes in the Parente & Ramlet study. Just got a note from a good friend (this is their personal data, not a friend of a friend thing)... Single parent one child household. Self employed, minor pre-existing medical conditions. Works 15 hour days to pay the bills and survive. When Bush left office and before talk of ACA started: $5000 deductable, $140 per month. After the first round of ACA changes impacted the plan: $5000 deductible, $228 per month. Now, with a fully ACA compliant version of the plan: $6000 deductible, $470 per month. They just can't afford it. So the effect of the ACA was to strip their insurance, and tax them for the privileged of now being forced to be uninsured. What next, execute them and bill them for the bullet? Pass or fail, so be it. But the fact that the politicians lied so brazenly about the math behind the ACA and it's inevitible implications, and the media completely supported them in the trivial to discover lies, demands that heads roll. Fire the media, fire the government, start again and come up with an honest (though still likely painful) solution to the health care struggle we have faced since the dawn of mankind. | ||
