Doris and I had the honor of installing US flags at the tombstones of our brothers and sisters who served our great country, at two separate locations, Wood and Union Grove.
Doris was able to plant one of her flags on her Dad's grave before others got to that row. Although I never met him (he died when she was 16), I know Fred through her. And he was a great man
Memorial Day. Just for a moment on your way to those barbeques and parties, please slow down long enough to remember for a moment WHY this is a day of honoring the fallen.
Sunny's great uncle never made it home and his remains are interred in France in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery along with more than 14,000 of his brothers-in-arms. He was killed in battle in the last month of the "War to End All Wars"
The photo of him at the end of Basic training hangs in our living room 24/7.
