Verizon is the bane of my existence, their ENVII device does not work in Korea; and since their pos does not work, I want to cancel it I can't cancel it without calling them on their pos device that doesnt work I can get an I phone here - and will do so - but furnishing the apartment is going to take priority over that so you are stuck with old cannon photos that feed into lap top that I must use and connect on own time the boss being a moto head - lets me play here for the work computer, but the NET admins seriously against photos, usb devices, and removable data the military guys get a little anzy about that an certainly no photos on base though there been some exceptional air displays of winged and rotary aircraft of late, you think they were looking for a black hole or something for all y'al that want to know I am on an AF base south of Seoul - selling Harley Davidsons and Fords and Chryslers Those of you in the military will know it at the Exchange Car Sales This isn't advertizing for them, as you have to be overseas to take advantage of the program; ie you have to already be here enjoy the show locally boys - I like my distance from it here. |

You miserable jackasses. I had typed out a whole tirade, and then cancelled the post because I thought it really isn't worth the time and effort to acknowledge the naysayers. Some people just can't stand it when other people are right. |

City, I'd like to know, are you now a Korean citizen? What are the benefits of your current citizenship position? Can you own and carry firearms? What is the health care system like, and who controls it? Who makes the rules and regulations that you must live by? I'm very confused by this whole ordeal. |

Brian, Try the soup with the thin but super strong rice noodles. Neat. They hold them over your bowl and cut them with scissors. Amazing exercise in chewing endurance. I could be totally misremembering, but I think the name of the noodles sounded like "dug" or "dog". I spent a week in Seoul back around 1997. Neat place. |

yes 'Cold Noodles' there will pictures of those too - they are really kind of weird. Like Ramen but a little thicker, fuller, more like a linguine but pasty grey like alien skin.... usually with a couple of boned meat knuckles in them - I do not know which animal - I do not ask. |

You're brave enough to eat that stuff but yet you left the states because you think things are gonna get a bit messy (which couldn't happen soon enough, IMHO)? *shaking my head* |

I know the units that will be showing up, and what they have, and what they will do; I used to be in them. I do not have the armament to battle APCs and a stack team of 13 on my door. safer here. |

I think youre overreacting (by thinking that moving to SK is a 'safe' move), but Koreans make some damn good food. Except the fermented tofu soup....yuck. |

Mitigated risks; bleeting sheep that eagerly elected the same cult of personality twice en mass; or a conservative bastion of profession troops that are of like minded service and security. when the shit comes - I like my chances here; much better. still if they wanted to do an off books hit - where would you really be safe. Now admit to yourself that this government is not above doing it. its only paranoia because you don't see what I have seen, and done.... and by the time you do - it will be entirely too f$cking late. When it hits the news - the game is already over. Watch carefully what is happening with gun confiscation / registration in CT, NY, CA and Co If you don't feel it coming - that is on you I like my shot better overseas and if I go dark - you know the shit is just around the corner because I am overseas - I am still exposed, off grid - means you should worry very much. take a look back at my posts of what this government has been doing 'in the name of health care'.... show me where I was wrong on what they had planned. Next on deck is Sustainability, Transition, and Resilience; and none of those Go words are your friends. |

This happens every other year; they have a big asset exercise with tanks, and ships, and plans, and everybody wants to prove their d#ck is bigger than the other The rockets - though they had the range to hit S Korea - were launched and aimed into the open sea. A couple of years ago - the actually shelled a northern resort island ... and the west did nothing but pay them for the privilege of admitting that we wont invade again it is saber rattling Most of it never makes the news Most of it is as routine now as it was 20 years ago when I was here the first time. As for Korean.... not so much - I am spending entirely too much time with the Russian girls. Sadly, Miki has left back to Ukraine - she was a fiesty haughty and always great for a good battle of whits. House party this coming monday. Yes - pictures then. |

ooooh Korean TV - they do the commercials at the top and the bottom of the hour and play the whole show through without an interruption; So a show is really only 42 minutes long... and then about 20 minutes of commercials - it lets you safely go do other things (if of course you have not already tivo'd it) and damnit if I am not going to get hooked on these damn lovudramas of Korean Soap / comedy operas. Like Friends meets Dallas - and in a foreign dialect. |

I am pretty good in the kitchen; years in the Russian House - the 'communal' kitchen. Every quarter, you made either the Sunday Brunch, or the Saturday meal; always traditional food. I have nearly a dozen cook books for Russian, Polish, Georgian, Armenian, Ukrainian and more ethnic far east of Mongolia and Sea food of kamchatka. food is social - its a great way to learn the language and of course talk the secrets that you would never admit on the streets. We had many dissidents visit our 'House' during the remnants of the Cold War. Our Dr. Ellison one of the principal architects of the post WWII economic aid and assistance to Europe and critical analysis of Communist industry. Dr Ellison saw the collapse coming a year away - many called him crazy. Watch the money - it speaks the truth more often than politicians. in the second pic - I believe we are cranking the stripper anthem - Def Leppard Pour some Sugar. |

Alina is indeed a cute FemBot It doesnt show in the photo, but she is about 5-8, and has a tendency to wear 3 inch heels every where. I am 5-6 (on a good day) - she towers over me. It is fun going out with them on the town. Nadya is the dangerous one too. Not alot of blondes in Korea - we can blend in at Busan because of the large Russian population there - but in Kunsan - we are quite the spectacle. |
