"Cheng Shin?" Thats a good one! I used to sell the hell out of 5.10-16 Cheng Shin's for HD's at $34.95.
I had a lot of cheap customers.

I never said I could spell.

I don't know, I'd imagine that Metzler tires have to meet Metzler's specs no matter where they are made. Same goes for any other brand. A Chinese branded tire (cheng shin) or one with an obscure name and selling for half of what you'd expect to pay for a good tire on the other hand is different.
I used to think that if a tire is DOT approved it means something but I no longer have faith in any bureaucrats. Too many political reasons for them to put my life at risk.

DOT is the "minimum government standard". Think about the phrase for a bit.

Just received my new Metzler's ME880 reinforced tires for my BMW K1200LT and they were made in Brazil. One never knows does one.

I recently had a conversation with a international union representative who had been involved with negotiations with a large international corporation whose name we would all recognize. The negotiations were in regards to building a manufacturing plant in the Midwest. When all was said and done the plant was built in China and the decision didn't come down to labor costs but the simple fact that China is a larger market than America. China is an emerging market. It's like the popular nightclub everyone wants to go to. Unless it's part of their brand, corporations, by their very nature, have no allegiance to any particular country. CEO's change corporations frequently and they come from all over the world.
