This may be the paradigm shift of the early 21st century. Abundant energy brings wealth and independence. Which means it may be the excuse/cause of war by the most greedy. Crimea? Poland next? |

And, according to Nancy Pelosi, natural gas is "a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels". Kind of a win-win deal all around. |

Was listening to a news report that said if the Crimea thing had happened even as little as five years ago. NATO would go to war due to energy concerns. But now that the US doesn't really need to. Nothing will probably happen |

I fully expect natural gas as a clean energy alternative to soon be demonized, new taxes to be levied on its production and sale, and new research will "reveal its grave danger to health and environment." I hope I'm wrong. |

And, according to Nancy Pelosi, natural gas is "a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels". Kind of a win-win deal all around. Natural gas IS a fossil fuel. No differnt to gas being piped ashore for the last 40 years but from extracted using a method that wasn't viable even 5 years ago. I think that anyone who thinks that energy prices are going to get significantly cheaper for anyone long term is in for a surprise The harder it is to extract the gas/coal/oil and the more scarce the resources become then the more expensive it will become. The days of relying on any fossil fuels are numbered |

Shale gas is typically extracted via fracking. Fracking has ALREADY been demonized. Heck, super progressive know-it-all Matt Damon already made a movie demonizing it. There are concerns that fracking could lead to contamination and pollution of underground aquifirs and water tables that supply drinking water. How legitimate those concerns are, I don't know, but I can understand people wanting to protect their drinking water. |

Perhaps not being from the US, you may have missed the intent of that comment. The point is that Nancy Pelosi (one of our leading Democrat leaders) is a blithering idiot. |

Ahaa that explains it then Over here there is significant opposition to fracking from various groups ranging from the NIMBY (not in my back yard) brigade to the Greens and 'Great Unwashed' that protest about anything just for the sake of it and the chance to fight with the Police. There was a minor earthquake near Blackpool a couple of years ago that these groups blame on the fracking experiments going on in the area (not that we really know what an earthquake is over here!). Unfortunately our other source of gas (North Sea) is running out, and unless we all want to rely 100% on Russia I think people will either have to accept more fracking, more nuclear and more expensive fuel whatever their political views unfortunately |

Yes, Nancy Pelosi has given us other great quotes, like the one about Obama care and having to pass it to find out what's in it. Back to NG... |
