Don't get me going on "American Reporters"

Read a funny op-ed where the author contends the reason the "press" hated GW Bush was because "his DEA" busted Tommy Chong's bong business. Laughed my rear off. ( sure they were unhappy, but they never liked him before that either ) Then he told a story about the Pot dealer in his dorm across the hall. Asked him who his best customers were, was told "journalism students & professors". Laughed some more.

Totally believe him. ( The "hard stuff" students always think the "oh so social science" types are morons... and they run things..... explains a lot when you think about it. Trouble is Structural Engineering types probably make bad politicians. )

Rest easy Patrick. When the opposition sinks to personal attack and juvenile insult, they admit defeat.

That video posted above by Don (M1combat) is sobering. It's nothing but cold blooded murder. Unarmed civilians intentionally targeted. That is the govt that was "unjustly" run out of the country?

Wise up.

Sheet metal is worthless against pistol fire let alone rifle fire. That was tough to watch. Unarmed citizens being shot like animals.

Maybe someone can translate the text at the end?

The point of the video wasn't that they "were russian snipers"...

I don't give a flying crap who they are.

The point is that whether the snipers are russian or not... the current government there is either backing the snipers by not stopping them or they are giving the orders.

Either way... There are people trying to move towards freedom (or whatever they want that likely isn't snipers shooting them) and being killed for it when they aren't shooting or shooting back.

IT DOESN'T MATTER if the snipers are russian.

It matters that people who are armed with only their voices, and are trying to have their voices heard, are being killed by people who would rather not hear them.

That's not right no matter what part of the world you're in or what God you follow or what kind of life you'd like to have for yourself or whom ever used to run your country or for ANY other reason.

NO MATTER WHAT is going on over there and NO MATTER WHO is doing it...

Can you justify the content of that video as being right in any circumstance?

I can't.

But the citizens didn't go on Fox news and say that they didn't want to be shot at. Therefore, they are OK with being shot at because they support Putin, and the fact that you think that they don't like being shot in the streets means that you are a radical conservative, and the internet is the only place to voice your opinion. And the only reason that BO makes bad decisions is because Fox news airs the results of his decisions.

Silly conservative Americans. Don't you know that the world hasn't benefited from you? The world would be a better place without western influence. Just ask India, or Dubai, or China, etc, etc.

I myself don't know enough about the Crimea situation to have an opinion one way or the other. I would like to say that BO doesn't know anything about the situation, but the fact that he deprived Crimea of, i believe it was mortar rounds? that could have been used to defend themselves, makes his agenda suspect.

Blake, it's been widely reported the US (CIA) were behind the sniper shootings. There's no evidence which points to Yanukovych being behind the sniper shootings.

It appears the snipers purpose was to destabilise Yanukovych's government after he turned away from the EU deal days before, in favour of an economic recovery deal with Russia.

At least read and research the topic before posting misleading information.

Blake, it's been widely reported the US (CIA) were behind the sniper shootings

This reminds me of a South Park bit where the reporter in the studio goes to the reporter in the field who says "it's been widely reported the US (CIA) were behind the sniper shootings". The reporter in the studio comes back with "are you saying that the US (CIA) were behind the sniper shootings". The reporter in the field then replies "No, I'm saying it's been widely reported the US (CIA) were behind the sniper shootings".

So to take Rocket at his word, we have the CIA openly operating in a hot shooting battle inside of Russian territory. How feasible is that? Really?

The good citizens of Russia should be grateful that the government cares enough to shoot them. It's for the common good.

RIE resorts to yelling in large fonts with a holier-than-thou condescending attitude towards us wretchedly uninformed Americans. We should all be grateful for his magnanimous attitude. Compounding his superiority, he stoops to insulting anyone and everyone who dares to disagree with him. Every post from RIE is pro-Russia, and anti-America with just a hint of antisemitism tossed in. What's there not to like?

RIE is free to have his opinion but RT is nothing more than the Goebbels's propaganda machine that hoodwinked the Brits in 1938. One sees history starting to repeat itself. Where will it end? I don't know but I strongly suspect it is not Crimea. At what point do Putin's apologists wake up? I don't know that either.

As an American, I am proud to compare my country's 20th/21st century history with Russia/Soviet Union. Apparently, RIE somehow believes that America has annexed sovereign nations. I guess I somehow missed that the following were annexed by and to America
* Germany.
* Japan.
* South Korea.
* Vietnam.
* Iraq.
* Afghanistan.
* Kuwait.
* Saudi Arabia.

Shall we compare Russia/Soviet Union to America now? This is tedious so I will leave it to the interested student to list the annexations of Russia, an incredibly murderous and totalitarian country.

So I ask once again: What part of the illegal and military annexation of a sovereign nation do you not understand? I have listened to your arguments and they are rejected.

If RIE's ideological soulmate is the mendacious Troll who today calls himself "Frankfast", then he has my sincere condolences.

Barack Obama and the Betrayal of Ukraine
By Joan Fischer · Mar. 25, 2014

As of today, the Russian military force gathered at the Ukrainian border is sizeable, very ready to move across that border, and is of sufficient size to even pose a serious threat to Moldova, on the other side of the country.

As a U.S. senator, Barack Obama, touting a Cooperative Threat Reduction program, was very influential in pressuring the Ukrainian people to destroy thousands of tons of weapons and ammunition, including artillery, small arms, anti-aircraft missiles, and conventional ammunition all of kinds, which are now unavailable to the Ukrainian people in their own defense when Vladimir Putin gives the Russian army the order to cross their border.

As recently as 2009, Barack Obama continued to provide passionate diplomatic assurances to Ukraine that, now that they have gutted their army, sold much of their weaponry, and relinquished their nuclear deterrent, the West would see to it that Ukraine's borders would remain intact, their sovereignty would not be threatened, and they would have an easier time gaining acceptance into the European Union.

Now let's backtrack a little and consider Ukraine's recent history. Maybe the West would be a little more sensitive to allowing Ukraine the means to defend itself if the West's educational systems had done a better job of teaching their youth, over the past few generations, the truth about what happened in Ukraine eighty years ago.

I remember, in high school, seeing a film depicting, in both words and pictures, what Stalin did to Ukraine during the winter of '32-'33. I remember spending weeks afterwards thinking about the horror: the fact that all food was systematically taken from Ukraine and the entire area was cordoned off from the outside world. Ukrainians f l o c k e d to the rail stations in an effort to flee, and then were shot attempting to board the trains. Guards went from house to house collecting the bodies of those who had succumbed to starvation, and they often included the bodies of those who were near death, throwing them, also, into the mass graves, because they didn't want to be bothered returning to the neighborhood too soon for another body collection.

All the while, the Soviet government was setting records in exporting Ukrainian grain to the West, while simultaneously starving to death seven million people in the span on one year's time. The Soviet-created 'Ukrainian famine' proved to be the most efficient extermination program ever devised by the mind of man. Even the Holocaust is dwarfed by the body count of Stalin's victims.

Now that Vladimir Putin appears poised to march into Ukraine and once again demand the 'obedience' of the Ukrainian people, one would hope that the Western world would vow to never again turn a blind eye to the plight of Ukraine. One would hope that the memory of what was allowed to happen to the Ukrainian people during the winter of '32-'33 would make defenders of freedom determined to stand up for Ukraine this time 'round. Trouble is, the American president is not a defender of freedom. He is, instead, an enabler of tyranny.

Only five years after his last assurances to the Ukrainian people that the West would have their backs, Barack Obama has adopted a Neville Chamberlain attitude of appeasement, and the people to whom he delivered that assurance find no one covering their backs, as the Russian army prepares to obliterate their borders and once again subjugate their people.

No matter the media cover-ups, or the news black-outs of relevant historical stories screaming to be heard again, evil is still evil … whether it be manifested in a Russian tyrant hungry for more land and power, or an American tyrant making countless empty, long-reaching promises he has no intention of keeping.

I find it neither favorable, or unfavorable. What happens to Crimea has no impact on me at all. Neither will the next state to fall, or the next. You will be in the grinder long before the US. This is your back yard, not mine.

With respect, you're out of your depth and sound like a proper nob.

People with opinions like yours are exactly the reason people like me from countries far away from yours find American's isolationist, cut off, and gung fecking ho. Good for you I exist here. You'd do well to listen and learn. Perhaps then you'd be a much better statesman for your country than the bigot you sound like.

First, thanks for the personal attack.

Isolationist? You've been running on about how the US is always sticking our noses where it doesn't belong. You really need to figure out which you think is the real problem.

And don't take my statement to be one of isolationist. Far from it. I simply have no desire to see our country spend lives and treasure to save a country that it's neighbors will wind up discarding anyway. There's just no point to it. Again, it's your back yard, not mine. If you want it cleaned up, I might be willing to help, but I'm not going to do it for you just to have you complain about trampled grass when it's done.

Sifo I have to disagree with you a bit.

Yeah the Ukraine being partitioned won't directly affect you this month. Lithuania not a lot.... but IF this is an imperial play by Russia they have no reason to stop. You're right that Rocket will have to deal with the results first but one of the plays will use energy blackmail and that will spike fuel prices like nothing seen since Jimmie Carter got owned by Arabia. Twice.

What Barry does is the problem short term. The feckless tough guy act & bombastic rhetoric could be the beginning of a seriously violent psychotic break....... and he controls the nukes and the new "civilian military force" poised to impose his will domestically. Or he can bumble away Europe completely and that way achieve the Dreams of His Father by wrecking the Colonial Powers. Or..... some idiocy no one rational would dream of. The only certainty is he'll lie about it.

If it wasn't the govt murdering the protesters, then please explain how it was allowed to continue unopposed by the govt?

The intellectual price tag required to accept the Russian propaganda with which you agree is way too high.

History ought to inform. Ukrainians suffered horrific genocide at the hands of the Russian Soviet. So of course they prefer their leader nice and cozy with Russia?

From the Russian

This video recording was done by one of the from what is 'Ukrainian' by a member of the group CNAPERAI, (the beginning)

From the phone, if you listen, you can hear shots and a shuffling in between, these are the sounds of newly loaded rounds and the hiss of silencers

At the range of 20 meters you can hear the cycling of the next round between shots; the man with the camera was entirely close to the snipers, a dangerous close proximity

ie - the snipers were close enough to see they were unarmed, were using silencers to conceal their shots (locations) and were using rifled rounds
get ready America - you do not really believe you are so far from the same violence do you ?

Why do we study history - because the game has been played before
Why do we pay attention to INTERNATIONAL events... because the stink of them rubs off on us domestically.

A good point. If we were a classic European power we would go to war with the country we owed money to.

What do you think Russia's med term goal is?

Depth of defense against Germany?
Imperial expansion?
Money grab by the Russian oligarchs?

Selfless salvation of the proletariat?
Or Cold War continued?
Rescuing Europe's poor citizens from evil oligarchs?
Religious fervor to spread the ideology? ( the excuse & driving power behind the Cold War )
