Communist publication or not. What they published (exposed) appeared to be documented facts. So do you (we?) discredit them because you (we?) don't approve of the source due to their political swing?

Is there a political party in the UK that lies?

I'm not talking about the usual politician promising stuff he can't deliver when he's running. I think they all do that, partly because they are naturally ( or trained to be ) dishonest, partly because they actually think they can do it.

I mean a Party that has lied about their motives, actions, commit voter fraud, and have as part of their deepest and most dearly held belief that a Lie is Good if it advances the cause?

And that Cause, ( no matter what they tell you ) is authoritarian control of everything they possibly can. Murder is Ok if it advances the cause. Those who oppose them must be silenced, marginalized, or killed. Period.

If you look past the "egalitarian" utopia promised, do you see the preaching of hatred for the Other? Is the basis for gaining power telling one group they are oppressed by another? Do they call for the dragging down of the existing aristocracy? Or are they the current ones?

Do they claim that there is no God, and get angry and insistent when other people insist on not being so enlightened?

That's because their God is the Holy State, It is a Jealous God, and can tolerate No Other.

That is the history of the Marxist cults for more than a century. Intolerance, hate, murder, mass starvation, and a massive gap between the "masses" and the "Party Leaders".

So "documented facts" from a Communist Publication have a better than average chance at being manufactured from whole cloth. An Excellent chance of having a tiny speck of truth with a Cathedral of lies built upon it. A near Zero chance of being the unvarnished truth.

It's entirely possible that the resignation in such a public manner of a talking head on tv was an orchestrated play for fame, money and influence.

So I don't "not believe" the story, I just see the repetition of the standard mantra of falsehood in the interpretation, and have more than sufficient cause to doubt any given presented "fact".

Yes, because the source has as it's STATED CORE PURPOSE to forward the cause of their faith.

And that faith lies. As part of it's core belief system.

All the news that is fit to print....

is really
All the 'news' that is approved to print - from either side of the pond.
You really don't think there is investigative and unsanctioned reporting in America ; do you ?

Seriously now. Everyone has an agenda to grind- find the agenda, you will find how they distort the events - hell you can even predict it with great clarity.

We were discussing the credibility of news feeds, which lead me later to point out Liz Wahl's high profile resignation live on RT News where she gave reason being “What’s clear is what’s happening right now amid this crisis is that RT is not about the truth,” she told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “It’s about promoting a Putinist agenda. And I can tell you firsthand, it’s also about bashing America.”

This seems insignificant to you, making no comment. Yet you're keen to dismiss or excuse whatever seems supportive reporting to Putin's or Russia's actions as propaganda or lies, or the source can't be trusted. You must be very fortunate to have the only truth available to you.

Putin needs Russians. The Crimea has them. Win win for Putin.

I even believe that a majority of folk in Crimea don't want to be ruled by who ever is supposed to be in charge in the Ukraine. A bit more doubtful about if they want to be ruled by Russia.

And there is no way to tell for sure, since they had a "referendum" while being occupied.

Eastern Ukraine is probably next, though some say Estonia.

Don't worry, the UK was never technically part of the Old Soviet Empire, so it'll take months for the Russian troops to be in Mayfair holding an unbiased referendum.

meanwhile Our Fearless Leader makes stupid threats and doesn't bother to go to intel briefings. One time he had an exclusive preview showing of a movie in the White House, and didn't want to miss hanging out with the celebrities he'd invited.

You seriously believe RT news is unbiased?
I don't think the cretins at CNN are. They don't even mention the civil war in Venezuela, or that they were expelled by the govt. there that wants no dissenting voice. ( or that the Russians want a base there )
MSNBC? Ha!

But if you tell me the Ukraine is run by kleptocrat Oligarchs, I believe you. Nice to have a source other than Russian tv. Isn't there some stuff in the English language from Poland?

BTW, in the US no one knows what an Oligarch is, just that it sounds nasty. And it's getting worse. Expect the next generation of students to not know that the UK was ever not owned by a consortium of Saudis, Chinese, and Russians. ( not that it is, today, right? )

The Crimean adventure is done so far as the Russians are concerned. The President has blacklisted a bank and a number of prominent Russians said to be influential in the government, freezing their assets and presumably making ready to confiscate their property. That will do wonders for the trustworthiness of the United States. I have not heard that Putin is seizing the assets of the Heinz Corporation, but I am sure they have some in Russia. I am sure there is some Congressional authority for Presidential seizure of the property of foreign nationals on the grounds that the US does not like their foreign policy, but I confess I don’t know what it is. Perhaps the President will tell us sometime.

I hear as I am writing this that a number of Congresscritters and other Americans are now banned from going to Russia. If the President keeps it up, he will maneuver us out of any access to the International Space station, and Russia will be able to claim it as jetsam.

Clearly there were options that fall short of a military intervention, and clearly we and the EU had no interest in pursuing them.

Patrick, I CAN SEE RT NEWS IS BIASED, but I can also see that they report news which appears to be factual, supported by evidence, pretty much in the same way most news channels report, including their spin also. They're no different in the way they operate than any other news agency give or take.

I'd like to believe (as we've discussed several times) I can ignore the spin to determine what the real news is. Or at least have the same chance of doing so as much as anyone else has.

And there is no way to tell for sure, since they had a "referendum" while being occupied.

Which pretty much supports all the spin from western biased news reports, but conveniently ignores the legitimate reasons why Crimea decided upon a referendum, quickly condemned by Cameron and Obama as it didn't suit their version of events or agenda rather than that of nearly 2 million people in a 97% turnout with an 84% in favour vote contrary to the result Cam and O hoped for BUT KNEW WOULD NEVER COME. Hence Cam and O trashed it with their own spin, which you appear to agree with, from the moment a forthcoming referendum was announced. Never mind from the day it actually happened. Aside from the western spin, why was this referendum illegal in international law terms? It wasn't. It was conducted lawfully, as witness by international observers.

Don't worry, the UK was never technically part of the Old Soviet Empire, so it'll take months for the Russian troops to be in Mayfair holding an unbiased referendum.

I'm not worried but it's unfortunate you choose to post this silly sort of humour when it's not meant to be funny, but rather, it's an effort by you to ridicule my views you think risky in agreeing with something you appear to believe is a danger to all of us. I don't share your paranoid beliefs.

But if you tell me the Ukraine is run by kleptocrat Oligarchs, I believe you. Nice to have a source other than Russian tv. Isn't there some stuff in the English language from Poland?

I'm as likely informed as you and I don't require an English language Polish source to get to where we are today. It wouldn't make a difference where I pointed you. Your views won't change.

Let's imagine Crimea had no referendum. Russia remained as before.

I'm curious. What would have been a suitable solution for the Russian's had Ukraine become part of the EU?

Putin's Third Reich playbook is starting up again exactly as I predicted. At some point, this leads to war, exactly as it did in 1939. One can only stick their head in the sand for so long. Still supporting the Russoviets, RIE?

Russia talks tough with Estonia as ‘protecting Russian speakers’ excuse wheeled out again after justifying Crimean takeover

excerpt:
CRIMEA has fallen. Ukraine is teetering on the brink. Are Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania the next dominoes to fall?

Russian officials last night expressed ‘outrage’ at Estonia’s treatment of its large ethnic Russian minority.

It’s a familiar move: The Kremlin defended its seizing of the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine a month ago with the pretext it has the right to protect Russian-speakers outside its borders.

It’s by no means the first time this excuse has been heard.

Nearly 80 years ago, Germany began its annexation of nearby states with the widely broadcast notion of protecting marginalised German-language speakers.

Russia is now adopting the same line towards ex-members of the Soviet Union.

A Moscow diplomat told a United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva last night that the language policy in the Baltic state of Estonia was comparable to what had caused it to move on Crimea — a move to prevent the use of the Russian tongue.

The tactic is as fearful as it is familiar.

My "view" is that I want to know what is going on.

I do not trust Putin. Never had reason to and he is heavy handed on dissent.

I do not trust the apparatchiks of the EU. I am sure you know better than I that a distant central authority with little or no accountability is bad for freedom. We are in the middle of a regressive move towards authoritarian rule of cult of personality. ....not representative rule of law. The story isn't over here....... but the push towards Royalty is heavy here. And getting heavy handed. ....... not as bad as Russia. Yet.

Under the new normal regime more people are out of work more are on the dole than since WW2. The tax man is in charge of health care and political punishment. All the same movement.

Who's running Ukraine? A non elected interim PM apparently. Or so we are told. Arseniy Yatsenyuk that would be. And where was the jewish Romanian lawyer today? Brussels of course, sucking up to Cameron. Likely Yatsenyuk's biggest claim to fame yet in his short lived 39 years. And what was he doing in Brussels. Signing a letter of intent for European economic and political support. It's a clever piece of paperwork which allows the EU to protect (I choose my words carefully but reading between the lines....) Ukraine as of today, where as economic and trade affairs won't be signed until after Ukraine presidential elections in May.

It's a (legal??) smoke screen for military intervention should Russia move into Ukraine, and the clever part is the commercial intention as of May with the EU, as of today is an attempt to destabilise Russia's economy.

Here's the usual BBC propaganda reporting spin.
