The science of it from Alton Brown - y'all be safe: brine the turkey over nite ! do not put a frozen turkey in the boiling oil ! ..... though frozen tatter tots are fun to watch and create havok for the unsupervised youth....DAMHIK | ||

I've watched as the flames roar up while camping. No fatalities, or serious injury I've had to deal with, myself................... But there are always fewer garages in this country after Thanksgiving. Alton's rig is a bit overkill, but the ladder really does a nice job of keeping people from knocking over the pot & burner. It also lets you go all NASA with a launch tower and countdown......if you're inclined towards that kind of thing. ( and I am ) Turkey fryers can be had for free, used once, in front of many houses each year. Often with burners covered in oily residue. | ||
