Seems there should be a way for them to sell these things as collectibles rather than scrap them. |

It's H-D. They hate the Buells. They've always hated the Buells. |

Legally if it is a race bike, without a VIN or title, they actually *can't* sell it...sucks, but that's more DMV/DOT than HD. |

Maybe so, but it's still a part of HD history, can't understand that mentality. |

Think that's bad. You should see what Honda scraps for various reasons. The cash value could support all Bad Web members and their friends with beer, wings, ribs & burgers for life! Just part of doing business... Some examples do find their way out the back door, though, never to bee seen by public eyes again. |

...or what the US Military destroys because it would "cost more" to ship it out of Afghanistan. It's disgusting. |

So donate it to a collector or museum!! No cash has to trade hands! |

They don't even have to part with it, they could loan it to a museum. They'd get much more kudos & public appreciation for doing so & such a gesture would go some way to salving the Buell wounds. |

"It's H-D. They hate the Buells. They've always hated the Buells." HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA yeah, they ALWAYS hated Buells...so they bought up the company... dont say dumb crap, it makes you look silly Yes, sucks its just getting scrapped, but in the end, so? I mean, I bet they've scrapped more valuable Buells in the past, and I cant imagine what HDs they've gotten rid of. Sort of like the Buell dumpster pic, cant sell it so they dump it BUT I do agree that itd be nice to donate/loan to a museum |

Seems a shame it couldn't be loaned to a museum. That tube frame was crafted by hand, in limited numbers. There won't be any more like it. Is it because H-D hates Buells? Probably not directly; just an accounting decision. Does H-D hate Buells? That could be debated on many levels. If you stumbled upon an ex-girlfriend's long-forgotten belongings in a box in the attic, what would you do? (Message edited by Elsinore74 on November 16, 2013) |

Not silly at all. What is silly is that H-D saw Buell as an avenue to sell more H-D's to younger riders. That, if anything, is dumb. Sorry if you missed it, but Buell had always been Harley's bastard stepchild. |

It can be sold for parts or sold to a racer/track day rider. |

Bean counters have probably gotten ahold of it and are scraping for the tax reasons. This is no different than the (rumor was) 100+ unsold XR750TT's that went for scrap in the late 80's or early 90's. The rumor was the number not the fact that they were scraped. |
