Of course . . . those 5,000,000+ (as of today and growing exponentially) folks who have lost their insurance . . . I'll bet they're angry and confused.

Angry Yes, Confused no, I know who did this to me.... I am paying close attention and waiting eagerly for an opportunity to act in some legal and useful manner,

After having reviewed the information available now, I will not buy in.

I am planning on spending some time Writing letters to my reps and senators in Washington DC expressing my displeasure, and desire to see impeachment and removal go forward.}

It's beginning to hit home . . . I spoke to my Mother in Kansas today. It's 19oF this morning and her furnace didn't come on. She didn't want to call the repairman until she finds out what's happening to her health care costs.

These folks should be suspended by their nuts someplace where they can have a view of the real Americans out there past the Potomac.

I did an online request through Anthem here in CT. Got a call today saying they could not help me till end of the month when the website is up and working.
I thought I was dealing with an outside company and not the gov't.
Appears everyone is selling the same coolaid.

IF the plan is sold through the 'exchange' and 'exchange' compliant... you must 'purchase' it through the portal.

IF you purchase OUTSIDE of the portal - your plan may not be compliant for tax purposes - and certainly will not work for the subsidies.
It is as the bill was written - if it had been read.
welcome to the show.

First, I'll say that I do have health insurance available through my company. It is your typical 80/20 plan, deductible is $2K I think. Cost for the family would be about $660 per month. I am not enrolled.

For the past 10 years, I have purchased private insurance. It is a high deductible plan with a $5K per person deductible ($10K max) and 100% coverage after that. It costs about $300 per month. I purchase health insurance as insurance - a risk management tool - for the scary stuff like cancer or something else catastrophic. Something I do not want to have to pay a 20% copay on. I am not interested in using insurance as a way to prepay for routine or minor emergency healthcare. I can easily absorb a $5K - $10K deductible in the off chance that it happens (hasn't yet knock on wood). Financially, this just works out much better for me.

I tried healthcare.gov a couple of weeks ago out of curiosity. I had no problem logging on. It takes forever to go through the subsidy "qualification" stuff (they just need an "I won't qualify" button.) Of course, I don't qualify for anything.

Unfortunately, there is nothing comparable to my own plan. I found something comparable to my work plan, but the cheapest one of the sort was $848 per month - pretty steep. The cheapest plan overall for me on the exchange was $470, but it was a 60/40 plan with a pretty high deductible. A stupid, but a totally predictable outcome.

I am not sure how big the subsidies are or how many people actually qualify for them to make these policies "affordable". But the problem as I see it is that only people who don't have to pay for it or the people who already have serious preexisting conditions will opt in to this. People like me will not, and the "young" people that the politicians need so badly to join certainly won't which means we will either be forced into it or the system will collapse first due to lack of political will to make it happen.

from the CMS ....
'Parents of insured children worry that their child would not get the care they
needed if they did not have insurance, and many do not know where they would
turn if their child became uninsured.
Eighty-six percent of parents with insured
children

either
by
Medicaid/CHIP or an employer plan

strongly (69 percent) or
somewhat (17 percent) agree with the following statement. “I would be worried if
[my child] did not have health insurance because my child would not be able to get
the health care that he/she needs/” Only half (50 percent) of
parents of insured
children, however, would know where to turn for help if their child became
uninsured. Another 17 percent say they are unsure. '

so what the f did parents do before 1964 when neither Medicare / Medicaid were available ?... how ever did we survive !??!!?

yes, Komrade - you must have state mandated care - you are too dumb to manage on your own - we must protect you.

They called the doctor, who then showed up at your house and treated the kid's illness by either giving him an injection or prescription. If you were lucky he handed you some samples the pharmaceutical rep gave him. On his way out, your dad paid him $20. It was pretty simple back then.

On the other hand, if your kid got polio or some other debilitating disease, the community came together to buy an iron lung or other such contraption.

current leaked estimates from this Adminstration is that over 200 million will lose their Health Insurance. 193 million with work related plans and 19 million with individual ones.

I'm one.

Bit of a pity that wasn't "leaked" before the CR renewal.

So if there are 300 million Americans, and 20+ million Illegals, and the ACA will not cover the 19+ million that we were told it's purpose was.......?

I suppose we're back to the truth. The aca is designed to destroy private health insurance and con people into demanding socialized medicine.

The half & half that is the ACA will put you in jail if you do not sign up ( if you are one of a rapidly growing number that is required to. soon to be over 200 million ) and refuse to pay the penalty ( Obama's term ) judged to be a tax by the Supreme court. ( which we were repeatedly assured, was not a tax )

OTOH if they put you in jail, you get free health care.

I'll be signing up soon with a provider group plan at work, the prices have, like the rest of the country, gone up 200-500%.
Every penny of that increase coming out of my pay check. ( my union apparently didn't bribe Obama enough )
Oh well, at least I now get prenatal care, and free birth control pills. ( since I'm a 50's male, I'm going to look a little silly showing up for my pills and ultrasound. )

without removing the legislators that passed the bill, those that supported it in abscentia, and the media / corporations that backed it - ie a full harbor full of heads - there will be no recovery from this; as designed

yep - it will kill the economy and the currency if left as it is

remember to thank a democrat at the polls - and vote them the f out
and the lame azz repubs that backed it too - gone.
if you need any motivation for that vote - look at your paystub.... (those of you that actually work for a living and support the rest of the sinking ship)

Just tried registering again. Here's the error message I get now...

So was it that the user id that I chose 2 screens ago is already taken, or is it that the security questions that I made sure to answer correctly on the last screen, because this has been the fail point for over a month now, was wrong? Then if you click try again, it takes you right back to step one. WTH have they been working on fixing for a month and a half?

This is a quote from the above link in City's posting. Kinda sums up reality. Hopefully, the Tinglers can reflect and learn from the truth.

quote:

Whatever solution we look for though, the really important point is this: the whole basis of Obamacare, the notion that we can have more people, getting more benefits, and pay less, is just impossible. The arithmetic doesn’t work. And if you think that’s “unfair,” I’m sorry.

But arithmetic isn’t sorry. Arithmetic doesn’t listen. Arithmetic doesn’t care.

From http://michellemalkin.com/2013/11/13/hey-look-some bodys-finally-been-held-accountable/

Last night, the Urban League fired one Navigator employee and suspended three others that urged clients to lie about their income.

These fired and suspended people should have instead taken part in writing, voting to pass it to find out what’s in it, or signing the ACA into law. If only they’d have promised millions of Americans they’d be able to keep their insurance while knowing they couldn’t, designed a wildly expensive website that doesn’t work and demonstrated general incompetence at the federal level, they’d still be getting paychecks.

I tried creating an account again this morning. Numerous times with a variety of very improbably user ids and a variety of fake email addresses and a few real email addresses that I actually have. I get the exact same result, regardless of what I put in.

Clearly that are making changes to the website. It doesn't work any better though. I wonder what the price tag is at this point. I imagine that a lot of software developers are making tons of overtime on this project.

I hate when I hear that Republicans in the house are drafting a bill to fix certain parts of Obamacare. They need to just let it roll and hang it like a noose on the Dems necks. And then, after the 2014 election when they hopefully will have a majority in both houses, Repeal It and pass one of the republican health care reform bills that actually make sense.

They do NOT need to fix Obamacase and they should NOT be putting together legislation aimed at doing that. If you start fixing it, even piece by piece, it will be that much harder to get rid of later.

from my other forum;

POTUS is afraid of the Health Care Law - he is going to advocate against enforcing it as it is written, in about 30-40 minutes from now. Gee, can he decree whatever fix he wishes?

Obama to speak about the Affordable Care Act at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, 11/14/2013

"Mr. Obama is expected to propose possible fixes to the law after it’s been plagued by a faulty rollout of the federal health care exchange and Healthcare.gov on Oct. 1 and news that many peoples’ health insurance plans are being cancelled.
“I think it can be done administratively. The president will offer a proposal today, is my understanding,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, said Thursday at the Washington Ideas Forum hosted by The Atlantic. “We have our own proposal, which we think is really good."

Obamacare allows people to sign up for three months free. If the grifter refuses to pay the premium, then the health care provider is on the hook for any incurred medical charges and is responsible for collecting directly from the moocher. Going out on a limb here but I expect that doctors and hospitals will refuse Obamacare policies.

The Resident is about to take the podium, 25 minutes late.
