Absolutely. Without question. God bless each of them, who have served so selflessly in the interests of others. |

It is important we remember Veteran's day and its significance. Sunny's great-Uncle, John Swackhamer was killed in action in France in 1918 and his remains are interred in the Meusse-Argonne Cemetery. His picture hangs in daylight in our livingroom. He is yet another that will remain "forever young." He and others like him should not be honored by grilled meat and beer. (Message edited by slaughter on November 11, 2013) |

It is confusing. Veteran's day would have originally been the perfect day to honor that great-uncle. Veterans Day was Armistice Day, relating to WWI, before it was Veterans Day. But now, Veterans Day honors the living as well as the fallen. Nothing wrong with officially honoring twice a year! |

Thanks to those that are still out there doing the do - kicking ass and taking down the bad guys. To the spooky grey ships, dark planes, and black holes with no names; twas the best of times, twas the worst of times. |

I had the incredible honor today to see Salvatore Giunta in person. Sal Giunta is the first Medal Of Honor living recipient since Vietnam. (Another was awarded recently to an Afganistan vet) Sgt. Giunta was the honored speaker at a Veterans Day presentation today at work. If you ever get a chance to see or hear him, he makes you very proud to be an American. Complete total class act. I had a chance to talk with him briefly after the event, he is the real deal. This is his story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50RFJfUzNsY Listening to him in person was absolutely riveting. This clip doesn't have anywhere near the impact as listening to him tell the story when standing 15 feet away. Carl (Thank you for your 6 years of service son), it was an honor to have you there with me to hear Sal talk. The above video was done in 2010 I believe, his story is the same but his attitude has changed. He is no longer embarrassed to have received the MOH, he is now honored and takes the responsibility very seriously. A very moving day. To all the vets here on Badweb, thank you for your service and dedication to this great country. Brad |
