I'm not following all the particulars on this site because I already believe I know why Obamacare was instituted, but that's only my firm belief, stated a few times here but I have a question.
Has anybody that has tried to or successfully gotten coverage said just exactly what personal info the Obamacare site wants? If I'm hearing some rumors correctly their is quite a bit I would not want them to know about my personal life. I think, with a CC permit, Secret/Top secret interim security clearance from my military days, VA membership and paying income tax for 60 years along with all the state, county and federal interaction I have had; THEY ALREADY KNOW WAY TOO MUCH ABOUT ME!
I was able to get those some sort of quotes off of the ObamaDontCare site. I detailed it a few days ago in this thread. Never mind the absolutely horrendous deductible amounts for a moment that they give zero information about. An even worse problem is that the pricing is completely false. That's why I asked if you had gotten a quote AND checked the price with the insurer. It's also virtually impossible to do even a half-assed job of shopping for the best product with the information provided by ObamaDontCare. You get more information from Amazon.com shopping for toasters!
I wasn't talking about the insurance companies being the greedy ones. See Papa Johns and the numerous other companies killing off or otherwise altering healthcare coverage or reducing the maximum amount of hours employees can work.
Don't you find it the least bit odd that these "greedy companies" didn't do this stuff to their employees until they found out what ObamaDontCare was going to do? They are reacting to new market factors exactly like they have to to remain profitable. The sad thing is that our leaders that wrote and passed this steaming pile, either don't care, or don't understand what they are doing to businesses and their employees. Now, I have a hard time believing that they didn't know what it would do. They were told by everyone who could get a voice. They just didn't want to listen. I was noticing that in my time on the site. I was really hoping I didn't understand, but they spun it as getting gold coverage out of pocket expenses at a silver price because of the kick back. I just couldn't make sense out of telling a low income person who currently can't afford ANY insurance that he will now be fined if he doesn't now purchase the minimum amount of insurance, but don't fear because we will help you pay for it, but only if you can afford a higher tier of insurance.
If I didn't know better, I would swear that nobody read this damn bill before they passed it.

Just a note on how the site works, when you hit the "Return To Create Account" button, rather than take you back to where you were in the registration process, it dumps you right back to the very first screen with no information filled in. This is just bad design. If the problem really was a user error, you have just wiped out their entire application process on their last step. That's just, pardon the expression, but... Retarded! This sort of design would never fly for any profit making corporation. No way!
Current rumor is the Canadian company that has a rep for late, bad heath insurance websites was told days, not weeks before it opened to the public that they had to change it. Like I said, rumor, I haven't verified this.
The original site ( which apparently didn't work anyway ) was set up like any shopping site. You look, pick, and then enter personal data to get the process finished.
The rumor is that they were told to change it so you enter your life story first, THEN go shopping. The spin is that it was to keep the prices hidden, but that could just be horrible lies or silly guesses by evil R's and Cons.

Dana Bash of CNN reported Wednesday evening that all of the Democratic Senators facing re-election in 2014 would back a "new" proposal to delay the Obamacare enrollment deadline--not really "new," since Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) already said he would propose legislation to delay the individual mandate, and House Republicans passed a bill in late September to avoid a government shutdown if the mandate were delayed.

The House proposal failed in the Senate, 54-46, on a party-line vote. Every single Democrat voted against the proposed delay in Obamacare's individual mandate, including those up for re-election in 2014, including red-state Democrats--all of them. If just five of them had shifted, the shutdown would have been avoided and the delay would have been passed--to face Obama's veto, but the point would have been made.
Furthermore, there are sixteen Democrats facing re-election in the Senate, almost enough to override the president's veto. If just a few more Democrats--perhaps the five planning to retire--had switched to back a delay that even the White House is said to be considering in one form or another, then Obama's veto would not have been a threat. The disastrous Obamacare rollout, and the shutdown, would not have happened.
As I wrote on Sep. 23, that solution was "Win-win. Therefore unlikely." But it should have happened, if the media had been more interested in the substance of the issue rather than whether Obama would win or lose. Instead, they helped Democrats and the media label the GOP as terrorists, hostage-takers, kidnappers, arsonists, "Gremlins" (my favorite) and suicide bombers--while some Republicans joined in the insults.
When the polls landed, Democrats became the "terrorists, hostage-takers, kidnappers, arsonists, and suicide bombers," pressing their perceived advantage to demand the reversal of the budget sequester--at least until their allies in the media quietly warned them not to squander their victory. Now that some Democrats have embraced what Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and--yes--John Boehner fought for, no one is calling them nasty names.
What's done is done--and Republicans will have to find a way back from what was, in the end, a very real political loss. But let it be noted, along the way, that the very same Democrats who will now be lining up to support a delay in the enrollment deadline or individual mandate were proud that they "never folded" in the debate just a few weeks ago. They had their chance to protect Americans. They protected Obama instead.

Are all these people that are on unemployment (or worse)... barely getting their bills paid, some are barley paying bills. How are they going to afford the insurance?? Should they let their car get repod'? Should they give up some luxuries like the I N T E R N E T ? (they can call in right?) They won't be able to get to a job, won't have internet to email resumes out either.. BUT they will have health care insurance (including some benefits they do not need?)

So Cruz and Lee drag republicans to offer a continuing resolution that refunds aca. Dems say no. Then they offer a CR that takes away the obamacare exemption for congress...dems say no. Then they say ok, how about we fund the government and allow citizens a one year exemption while the details are worked out with this program...dems say no and attack repubs and cruz. These guys are painted as racist villains, celebrity's chime in and jump on the hate bandwagon.
Now the dems propose we exempt everyone for a year? You've got to be kidding me?
And a big FU to Morgan freeman, matt Damon, tom hanks and George clooney. Looks like you guys will need to make another made for TV movie about how great the ACA is.
