The Westboro folk are a family of lawyers who exploit religion for personal gain. You could get snarky and point to other religious groups, but seriously, Lawyers? No, they are not representative of Christians, nor, I am happy to say of Lawyers. ( although you could argue that if someone was a lawyer, a politician, and a preacher, that the joke is on whoever he's screwing ) I have concerns with Islam because of it's designed nature. Like what Marxism became ( pretty much instantly ), it's a cult designed from the earliest days to give small groups of evil men rule over large numbers of people. Like the Progressive ( read Communist, but not revolution, by infiltration ) movement here in the US, the use of hate to gain power shows that the folk who use it are evil. Not that the neighbor who goes to church, or mosque, or synagogue, is a bad person. Just that religions ( at different times ) are used by evil men. No "religion" is the unmodified word of the Almighty. ( Your Deity(s) Here ) It's a collection of customs, taboos, and rituals developed by MEN some of whom were exploiters, not compassionate. So some religions just have more potential for evil/exploitation/cons built in. Mr. Grumpy, your opinion on my opinion on unassimilated immigrants? |

My opinion on unassimilated immigrants is very simple. I too am an immigrant, I have integrated into the society I have joined, learning it's language & assuming it's laws & customs. If as an immigrant you don't wish to make the effort to conform your host nation's way of life, you don't like the country or society you've joined & wish to change it, well that's bass ackwards, *u** off somewhere else where it suits you better & leave the rest of us in peace. |

I agree, we have that problem regionally as well. People who get tired of the high taxes, bad schools and bloated government of the Urban socialist areas, move to the countryside and moan about the lack of Starbucks and free stuff. Soon the area gets as bad as the places they left. It's some kind of mental disorder. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Sports/2013/10/ 25/French-President-stands-by-soccer-tax-plan Hollande's initial proposal called for individuals _ in the case of football, the players _ to pay a 75 percent tax on all income over 1 million euros. That tax was rejected by a court this year and the budget currently before parliament would instead put in place a 50 percent tax, paid by the employer. Seriously? These lying cretins think that having "the employer" pay the tax means "the employee" does not? The guy who does the work still gets paid less, no matter how you lie about it. So, France may go nutwing right as a backlash to these piles of steaming....... Brie? |

I'm waiting on the paperwork for Quebec, should be early part of next year. It really pains me to see how things are going here, & part of me feels guilty for "running away", but I can't honestly see things improving anytime soon. I don't expect Canada to be an instant paradise for me & my family & I know the change will be particularly hard on my dear wife, but even she's had enough & is prepared to make the effort. I'm going to have to work hard I know but that's normal for me, I was inculcated with the work ethic from a young age at home & at school, sadly it's no longer a fashionable attitude here. The latest nail in the coffin was being asked to show another agency driver who'd not driven semis for nearly 20 years the run that I was on so that he could cover when I had other jobs. Turns out he's an old friend of the transport manager, he's getting a full time contract end of the month doing work that I used to do, & I get "sorry there's no work for you at the moment" . Time to go where values seem to be still real ones. |

Looking forward to the possibility of riding with you some day. Come visit the SCAB group in SoCal when you get a chance. We ride the first weekend of every other month. Good luck trying to learn Quebecois. Quebec as well as most of Canada, is a really nice place. |

Reindog, I'll be a regular in your neck of the woods, only thing is it'll be in a Kenworth with a reefer on the back. The job I'm going to is running Montreal - LA double manned. My eventual driving partner is going to be another Buelligan, my mate Mickael, cheeky young git calls me "papy" that's "grandad" in French. Quebecois French is hilarious, it's a mix of old French & translated Americanisms, & the accent is so thick sometimes that you're thinking to yourself "I know the words were French, but I've no idea what they said." I'm sure we'll adapt though, & have a riot doing so I hope. |

In the past, we have been able to magically scrounge up an extra motorcycle when visited by special badweather enthusiasts. Lemonchili and Vampress carved up Glendora Ridge Rd once upon a time when they displayed Australian technique. That was a very great day. |

The front door is open and the porch light is on here in Sugar Hill, Georgia as well. I know where to acquire an extra bike or an extra Kenworth... take your pick. |

http://www.france24.com/en/20131029-france-delays- ecotax-road-transport-after-protests Temporary good news. http://www.france24.com/en/20131026-france-greenpe ace-activist-protest-eiffel-tower-russia-detention s I see, protesting in Russia gets you in prison, so you protest Russia in France. Rare in the US to see any public protest against authoritarian regimes. They tend to be the "protester class" favorites. |

Protesting in France is a national pastime, It's a rare day when there isn't one. Most are completely pointless, just organized to show that "We're not going quietly." & that the government should be doing something about this, whatever this may be. Some, as in this case, do have an effect to counter government stupidity. |
