Court, in the EBR topic you mention some great Harleys you'd owned and long since sold. I saw recently you were offering a couple of Buells for sale so was just curious what bikes (Buells) if any you see as keepers and if you're looking at purchasing something entirely new? Like perhaps an EBR? Rocket in England |

Can't speak for Court but my M2 is my keeper. |

Court's not saying. I apologise if it seems I put him on the spot. Just curious given his exalted status in Buell world was all. My S1W is my keeper. |

I too am a M2 fan. My keeper. ( although if I had a Uly, or other model, it would probably be my favorite, instead ) Not as hard core as a S1W, ( the thong ) but modified as I want, it does what I need, and makes me happy. I went to the Poges Hole Hill Climb this year, and as I parked a nice young couple on a XB9 parks beside me, and I greeted him warmly. A we walked away his lady wondered aloud why I was so friendly, and he pointed at my bike and told her "same brand", then looked confused and wondering at the Cyclone for a while. It was the only tuber I saw at the race, and as we found friends, we moved up to park with them. Got some looks. At Poges Hole they park the bikes across the street from the hill, and other than the close spectator area where the falling rocks can hit you, it's the best view. Nice of them, and it's a local owned event. While I'm well aware that the old tube frame Buells are not the most refined, or free of flaws machines ever made, my Cyclone "Buttercup" continues to impress me with her ease of handling, and right hand vertical control. I admit I've pulled far more wheelies by accident than on purpose with her, but the look on the GSXR rider's face when an over enthusiastic acceleration into a low but notable 2nd gear shift wheelie, then holding it 6 inches up through 3rd gear before running out of road and backing off...... priceless. Not the same bike you see every day on the highway, and it shows in the ride in ways others can't see. (Message edited by aesquire on October 20, 2013) |

I hardly ever see a tube frame Buell here these days. Of course, many will have not survived the years for all the usual reasons that befall most motorcycles. Makes mine these days even more attractive than I might have imagined a few years ago. Rocket in England |

Tube framed Buells are beautiful, hand-crafted works of art.. I too share an appreciation.. |

Rocket... I thought you binned Buell for MV Brutale? Sorry, I've been away for a while and missed something. |

Yes I wanted to buy a Brutale but for one major reason only I didn't in the end. Not saying I would have parted with the Buell either, and I likely wouldn't have. I've ridden the 750 and the 910 Brutale. When I rode the 750, two test rides actually, it was a bloody scream. It handled like a knife through butter and danced a tango up and down the transmission along those twisty country lanes. Them I rode the 1000F4 and the speed and power was so brutal and intoxicating the 750 seemed no longer fast enough in that instant. I waited for the 1000 Brutale as I'd heard from MV insiders it was coming, but when it did it was the 910, and it had bowed to press and public pressure. Yes it was a bloody fast bike. 165mph easy. It handled like a knife through butter still, but it was immensely boring. It had lost all of its hooligan bad boy screaming magic. Where the 750 really did scream up to 13500 rpm with nothing at all below 4000, the 910 would go effortlessly from 800 rpm to 11000 in top without changing gear. All a bit dull really. I've not ridden the later 920 and have no desire to ride the 675 at all. I read just last week the 800 came bottom in MCN's group test of super middleweight nakeds as the fly by wire throttle made it so awful to ride. Something MCN believe can't be readily remedied with ultimate satisfaction. I did see for sale just a few weeks ago, an as new unmessed with 750 Brutale with only 600 miles on the clock, on offer for something a little less than £5500. My time has passed and I've enough projects to spend on at the minute before I could even consider anymore! Which reminds me. The Buell is getting some well earned and well deserved attention this winter, and that will no doubt involve some money thrown at it!
