I was just thinking it was about time for a Cards postseason thread. Neat to think we get a rematch of '04 or '06. I don't care who we play but I hope the results are like '06 |

Too bad for the Dodgers, but they, like the Cards, will be back. There were some great teams in the playoffs this year. The pitching we are seeing is amazing. |

Cards vs. Sox will have better demographics than Cards vs Detroit. Go Red Sox! Congratulations to the Cards although I would have preferred my neighbors to the North (I live near San Diego). |

I became a Cards fan in '87 when Channel 4 in the UK showed the WS live. I happened to have an early start one morning turned on the tv while having breakfast, & was hooked. I'd never seen the likes of Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee & Vince Coleman, I've been an addict ever since. They eventually lost out to the twins, but that didn't matter to me I'd become a Cardinals fan & there was always next year. So this year we're having a replay of '04 but looking at the team performances I can't see the Sox sweeping again. Interesting stat; The club with the most WS to their credit is, no surprise, the New York Yankees, the manchester United of baseball. (They're more a marketing franchise than a ballclub to me but that's by the by.) The next club on the list? yep it's the Cards. |

The Only GREAT thing about the Cards going, is that they BEAT LA to get there. - Says the Giants fan. I'll be rooting for the Cards, mostly because I'm a NL fan. |

Grumpy, what took you so long? I became a Cardinal's fan back in 1963, Stan Musial's final season. They won the 1967 World Series against Boston, lost in 1968 to Detroit, won it all in 1982 against Milwaukee, lost in 1985 to Kansas City and lost again in 1997 to Minnesota. Lost the World Series on 2003 or was it 2004 to Boston. Won the 2006 series against Detroit and won again in 2011 against Texas. I thought their best team I ever saw was in 1985 but the blown call by the first base umpire, Don Dinkenger in game 6 allowed the Kansas City royals come back to win the series. I feel this year the Cardinals will win the World Series in 6 games! Go Cardinals! |

I remember the 82 series well. Even though I was a big fan in the 60's with Curt Flood, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Tim McCarver etc. I was just a kid. By 82 I was working at the owners of the Cards brewery. Loved watching Gussy Busch ride the beer wagon around. He was truly a fan of baseball. We spent the whole night in the break room drinking beer and watching the game. Nothing broke down that night!! We win! That calls for another beer! Boy how times have changed!! Looking forward to another great series! |

I was lucky tonight, I had to work and was only able to watch the first inning, Thank God! They played terrible! If they play the same in game two, series over!!! |

It was my fault, my darling wifey is away this week & next, so I've not been shaving, going for the Red Sox beardy look. I'll be getting the razor out shortly. I picked up the game top of the 7th (breakfast) it was painful to watch. |

I want the Cardinals to win it in 6 because I'm working next Thursday night and won't be able to watch a game 7 or otherwise I would want the World Series to go the distance. |

I hated for the game to end that way tonight but it was the correct call! The Cardinals blew so many opportunities tonight but at least they got the win in the end. |

That was wild, helluva game. Watching Peavy work his way out of bases loaded nobody out, amazing stuff! Allen Craig giving it everything Kirk Gibson style. You know the Sox are going to come out fighting again tonight though. It's shaping up to be the best World Series for a good few years. |

Yeah, what a game! and I also like the sportsmanship - the two teams seem to like and respect each other as adversaries. Ortiz and Molina chat it up every chance they get! |

Another crazy ending last night: picking off the runner at first for 3rd out, with Beltran the tying run at bat! This is great baseball. |
