"The subsidies for state exchanges disappear in 2015, and that’s going to bust state budgets." That's why states led by thinking people opted not to create exchanges. |

What if all the damage being done to our country by 0bama is deliberate? I have no reason to think otherwise. I believe he has intentionally committed treason after treason, and he should be held accountable by an impartial court of law. If your wife came home and said, "honey, I just maxed out all of our credit cards". Wouldn't you expect an answer out of her? But he is above reproach. |

have you all seen the 2016 movie by daneesh dsouza (however you spell that?) there is no way you can accidentally be as unpatriotic as he is, no way you can accidentally make decision after decision which so blatantly drives America to her knees. |

Income - as defined by the IRS - is ALL your shiate. Money earned, Interest Earned, Investments held - property owned, durable goods ammoratized and of course any and all outstanding judgements, awards, winnings, and or death benefits. They are all 'income'. Remember - you didn't build that wealth - that belongs to the people ..... Watch and Learn Wait and See Your shiat is about to be seized - maybe they send you a nice note about it. After the fact. |

I've managed to find info on what they consider income. Oddly, the healthcare.gov site directs you to a private site, with a disclaimer that information may not be 100% accurate, to provide the details. Kind of pathetic IMO. As I suspected, 401K dividends are not considered income. That's good news for me. They use a "Modified" Adjusted Gross Income, so it's not necessarily as easy as taking the AGI from your tax form. That would have been far too easy. Of course, taking information from your tax form brings up an interesting point. We are expected to make decisions on purchasing a product in late 2013, for a product that we are supposed to have purchased by January 2014, but it will be based on tax information that you won't even have available to you until later in 2014, and isn't due to be completed until April 15, 2014. That means that the $450+ per month tax benefit that I calculated with the most recent information that I have available, could be more, it could be less, or it could be completely unavailable. There's just no way to know. How the hell am I supposed to be able to budget for next year, as a low income family, with a $450+ variable that can't be known? What an amazing new health care system we have created! |

One other "detail" that I found this morning. I'm sure we've all heard that there are bronze, silver, gold, and platinum coverage plans. Who has heard that the tax assistance is ONLY available on the silver plan? Source... https://www.healthcare.gov/will-i-qualify-to-save- on-out-of-pocket-costs/ "You can choose any category of plan, but you'll get the out-of-pocket savings only if you enroll in a Silver plan." I don't think that was ever mentioned by pResident POS. |

As I think about this, I've come to a bizarre realization. If this plan lasts more than a year even close to resembling what it is now, I'll find my self in a nice niche. I'm unlikely to qualify based on 2013 income. Just off the top of my head, it won't be close. 2014 though may be a very different story. If my non-qualified investments do well, my income will be too high and I won't qualify. I can live with that. If OTOH, my investments do poorly, my income will be well in the range of getting a good chunk of my insurance paid for. In effect, ObamaDontCare is "investment insurance" for a certain fairly wealthy segment of the population. It actually incentivises higher risk investing! Talk about unintended consequences! So, I sure hope all the young folks that support BO, join up in his signature legislation to provide me with my investment insurance. |

Torquehd: "What if all the damage being done to our country by 0bama is deliberate?" It IS deliberate. He said in his campaigning he wanted to radically change this country forever. Unknowledgeable & uninformed people figured he meant for the better. His history told another story and he is proving his true intentions every day. He IS destroying everything that was good in this country. We're not a perfect country for sure but waaay ahead of any other country in the world. Ask ANY good, honest immigrant. I hope most voters who voted for him....twice, see the light in 2014/2016. |

But. In a world where your Insurance company makes the Law, what are you allowed to do? Today, the Insurance Companies bribe the politicians to restrict your actions. All for the best of reasons, of course. Why are there seatbelt laws? Because not wearing them makes you far more likely to be injured or killed, and that costs the Insurance company money. So we get seatbelt/helmet/etc. laws. The problem some have noticed is these things are sold to the public as a way to save on insurance costs, and it does, but not for the consumer, just for the Insurance company. Has there EVER actually been a rate decrease after a freedom restrictive/good sense law gets passed? Tomorrow, the Insurance company will make the laws nearly directly. The Gov. Insurance folk will look at the same demographic stats that Aetna does, and conclude that risk sports are losers for them. My insurance company may refuse to pay if I get injured while skydiving, ( There's a line in there saying so, and to get covered costs more, because for some reason the Company thinks jumping put of an airplane is risky ) but tomorrow, they may just tell me I'm not allowed. How long can our Government Allow you to have high performance racing machines on the street? ( Assault cars ) And Motorcycles? You got no steel around you! But that's just crazy talk to think that the government would strip you of your freedoms to do stupid stuff just to save themselves money. Paranoid delusion. What was that about minibikes, lead, and government regulation? |

So we've been told that there are about 48,000,000 uninsured Americans. Source. Then we are told that the healthcare.gov site was only deigned to handle about 50,000 people per day. So we are expected to believe that the government passed a law that requires 48 million people to get insurance, in a matter of a few months, in a system that at maximum capacity would take 32 months for each of these uninsured people to visit just a single time. And some people question why we hesitate to let the government get involved in our health care system. Froggy, Buellkowski, care to comment? I'm pretty certain based on that simple math, that we have been lied to on something! |

A bit more of the insane implementation of this. They are dividing things into "bronze, silver, gold and platinum" coverage levels. So the person who can't afford bronze coverage is told...
quote:If you qualify for out-of-pocket savings, you must choose a Silver plan to get the savings. If you qualify for these savings, you'll get the out-of-pocket savings benefits of a Gold or Platinum plan for a Silver plan price. You can choose any category of plan, but you'll get the out-of-pocket savings only if you enroll in a Silver plan.
https://www.healthcare.gov/will-i-qualify-to-save- on-out-of-pocket-costs/ So let's recap the logic. A person can't afford the lowest level of Bronze insurance coverage, so we tell them to pay for the Silver plan so that they will qualify for free shit at the gold/platinum level. |

So who is paying for these so called out-of-pocket savings? The Chinese? Nope. Who could it be? Me? Bingo! Maybe the so-called American poor should cancel their cable, stop taking vacations like my dead-beat relatives, and take a second (or third) job and pay for it themselves, backed by true HealthCare reform. Only in America could a 26 year old be defined as a child. Give me a break. C'mon, you supporters of ACA, start supporting it and tell us why you support it. |

Reindog: If you want the view of a non-citizen who has lived in a country w/universal healthcare prior to emigrating here I will tell you this. My view (YMMV): Obama would like, as Hilary wanted, a single payer scheme. Given the current situation vis-a-vis insurance companies, their political clout, the number of folks they employ and their ability to at least influence if not control the healthcare provision market, a universal single payer scheme is a non-starter. As a consequence of this, Obama has introduced the ACA in order to put in place a scheme that is untenable in the medium term. ACA, having been ratified by the Supreme Court as Legal means that he can have the ACA enforced using whatever means he has at his disposal. Once the ACA is seen to be too expensive the next step will be to offer the only "viable" (I use this term loosely) replacement. This will be a Government funded (read: taxation funded) single payer scheme similar to those in existence in many developed countries. Personally, I do not see the ACA lasting. I see it being replaced as I described earlier. I just wanted to offer a different perspective to Obama's medium term aims. I believe too much attention is being paid to ACA in the here-and-now and not enough to what Obama sees as the "end game" for healthcare provision in the USA (BTW: I am covered by an insurance plan through my work) Chris C |

That's not speculation. A single payer (government) system is their end game. They've said so publicly, but only in venues where they thought no one from the opposition was watching. |

Actually this system is doomed to fail and the subsequent single payer system. European health systems depend on European legal systems, the trial lawyers are going to go nuts with the consequences of this mess. Establishing fault and getting a court to approve settlements in this environment is going to be iffy. Big problem is the sheer number of real people that will be dying in the next few years. When this system is broken, as I fear, its replacement will take a generation to cobble together to a third world status. Madduck: Just look up "Crown Immunity". You sue a doctor at my place of employ (or a nurse, or the hospital itself) and win there are strict limits on the amount of compensation you can receive regardless of what the court may wish to award. Look also at the Florida time limit on claiming medical costs if you are in an MVA. Law suit awards are being squeezed from both ends. Limits on time to claim & limits on the amount you can win. Congressional exemptions, crony exemptions, upcoming union exemptions, virtually zero sign up by young Americans, no income verification for subsidies, a hopelessly broken website, doctor revolt, intrusive questions ripe for identity theft, this "most transparent" administration is not forthcoming with data about participation......who is going to pay for this monster?! I think even Liberals are about the join us Conservatives that this POS must be scrapped for the good of America and can start with real Health Care reform.
