Damn you Old Man Winter! Damn you Sir! The perils of winter for motorcyclists! It's starting to get a bit nippy out. I can tells it's going to be a rough winter for me already. It's not going to be easy. No, no, I'm not talking about road conditions. I'm talking about all the crazy deals on bikes. I've really only been riding on the street since 06. Late bloomer, I guess. Every purchase I've made though, has been in the winter usually December. Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP with only 1500 miles, Termi, a few do dads, for $9999. Gee, thanks. I'm starting to loose sleep over that one. 1125CR with a few thousand miles and a few scuffs and making messes on the dealers floor like a puppy, $4999. And Tuonos, Jesus, don't even get me started on those. Then I think, I'll just try to make my XB9SX a little "better". That'll help. Or will it? How do you guys make it through winter? |

Try some bar risers for that XBSX. I'm right at 6' and got them several thousand miles into owning that bike, wish I'd had them from day 1. Also, a Stebel horn is a great investment, just be sure to wire it with a relay. Surprisingly, it WILL fit behind the flyscreen, but it'll have to be able to "breathe", face the bell forward and protect it from the elements... Otherwise, yeppers, them thar cheep bikes will call you like a siren to the shoals. (Message edited by 86129squids on October 13, 2013) |

I just put on my Gerbing's gear...and keep riding. I keep up on maintenance's for the bikes, fix all the little "I'll get to it"s that have been piling up during the riding season, and rotate the battery tender through the bikes once a week. And ride anytime the roads are ice-free. |

see the "buell heated grip" forum in the 1125 section. They make winter riding MUCH more pleasant. |

You know, I think you guys are right. Farkles and fixes are in order. The first thing that comes to mind is the damn low fuel warning light. It's fine as long as I'm giving it the spurs and riding as if being chased. If I'm just putting around it stays on all the time regardless of fuel level. That'd be nice to get sorted out. |
