I just got the weirdest ad for the upcoming AIM Expo. At the end, it mentioned a chance to meet Kenny Roberts and win a Kenny Roberts inspired custom Star Bolt. WTF? Kenny Roberts and a Star Bolt?? If they said "YZF-R1" or "YZF-R6" I could understand... but a Star Bolt and Kenny Roberts? Bzzzzzt... does not compute! Error! Error! |

Those Yamaha bolt things do look pretty sweet. I don't have any idea what Kenny Roberts would do to it other than add a TZ750 engine. |

Yamaha is sponsoring custom builds with a bunch of Bolts. You can vote for your favorite on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/StarMotorcycles?v=app_448 952861833126&rest=1 There are 3 or 4 dirt track/street tracker variants that look pretty sweet. Maybe they're giving away one of those. Here's a nice one by Palhegyi Design:

Okay... a dirt tracker WOULD make some sense. But I still remember that sweet yellow, white and black Kenny Roberts edition RZ350... |

I like the one above & the Roland Sands design, but appear to be in a small minority. The others look mostly like some kind of loony got a photo of the bike & some crayons, then they built from the resulting picture. I presume the Kenny Roberts version will be painted like the XJR was. |

A bolt created from the factory as a cheap light street legal dirt tracker would be a lot of fun. |
