Very sorry to hear this. Heart surgery has gotten incredibly routine but complications like this do still happen. From the link you posted, it sounds like he is showing some improvement. Prayers sent. | ||

His wife posted that he was getting cranky with her for doing things for him. Thats a good sign but he has a long way to come. Keep the prayers coming.  | ||

He is SLOWLY doing better. They are moving him to nuero ICU this morning to actually determine how much the brain is affected. William is one tough stubborn SOB. But keep the prayers coming. he is still looking at 6-9 months of rehab | ||

Prayers sent... and continuing. My wife and I care for a neighbor who had a bad stroke 10 years or so back. He's 69 now. His main loss was math skills, now he's a EE with 3rd grade math abilities. Skills/abilities lost vary wildly, hope for the best. Keep at the rehab William, it works. Brain cells CAN be retrained if you persist. Never give up! Zack | ||

I just came from seeing william today. It is his 48th birthday. He is in a rehab hospital going thru therapy. He is still having trouble with his right side and speaking. He has regained his sense of taste and the doctors say he is trying VERY hard. They say they are amazed at his determination. Keep up the prayers. I told him about the prayers and positive thoughts here. He said THANK YOU.. | ||

Hot Rod Cruise-In & Hot Dog Feed Benefit for William Young and family Please help the friends of William and Denise Young raise funds to help with medical and living expenses during this difficult time. William Young, husband of Denise Ward Young and father of three boys, suffered a severe stroke during what they thought would be a routine heart surgery. William now faces a difficult path ahead of him as he faces months if not more of grueling rehabilitation. He has been left unable to communicate and is partially paralyzed. William is the main provider for his family and at this time his wife will need to take a leave from her part time job when he is released. Medical expenses are already mounting, as are living expenses, including their mortgage payments. William is an easy going guy who has a love of life, Buell motorcycles, and who has worked hard all his life for his family and has always been ready to lend a hand to anyone. I will do my best to try and make it down south to see William on Sept 15th. Here he is pictured on the far left pit crewing for me during my 1st MCRA race event in 2012 Heartland Park Topeka KS. We placed 3rd on both days of racing.  | ||
