I'm thinking that a laser, mounted to the rear sprocket and shimmed properly, would be a great tool for belt alignment. Anybody have any ideas? Also, I saw a tool that resembles a welding rod used for same. |

How would one un-allign the belt in the first place? |

I just slapped calipers on the axle adjusters and dialed it in that way. A magnetic laser and a magnetic target put on the front and rear pulley might be a cool way to adjust things if there aren't a lot of guards in the way. |

Yeah I used a caliper too. Cool thing about the adjusters of the Aluminum swingarm tubers is once you adjust them, you don't need to mess with them again. |

I made one on my Yamaha project. http://wr389x.wordpress.com/2013/02/09/frickin-las er-beams/ It worked pretty well. |

Like Natexlh1000 says ..... you never have to alter them so no special tool is required , havn't moved mine since i converted to US gearing about 50K miles ago :-). when you take the wheel out just allow the aluminium pieces to move out of the swingarm push the wheel forward and then carefully unhook the belt from the sprocket before pulling out spindle and removing wheel :-) |

Buy one. Cheaper than attempting to fabricate one. I have one in my toolbox. |

I found something interesting when I removed both drive belt tension adjusters. The left belt tension adjuster was bottomed out in the threaded axle mounting, while the right belt tension adjuster was threaded in approximately ten turns. So I removed both, marked both, and threaded both of them in 10 turns, marking each on top of the nut, as they started to thread. Used medium strength Permatex threadlocker that I bought at Autozone to secure in the threads What I will do when that sets up is use a small screwdriver with an o-ring on the shaft and set each side equally. What do you think? |
