I need to upload some videos, I am really happy with my FineVue. Video quality is about what I expected, and it has great features like showing my speed (with the GPS plugin), and using a shock sensor to trigger an "event mode" where it thinks you were in an accident and it will quarantine off 40 seconds of footage to prevent it from being automatically overwritten. Only downside is that even on the lowest sensitivity it still triggers it on every pothole.
Here is a clip of me having an illegal street race with a co-worker in a green Accord
I recently upgraded to the DR750 (same thing but the 750 has a screen). I am very happy with it, I like having both front and rear cameras now. I actually plan on getting another one and putting them on the sides to cover footage from those angles, as it seems my luck as of late has been people hitting my doors.
Check out this intro to dashcamming video a friend of mine made, he is more into dash cams than me and has posted reviews of the more popular units. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naz6G_5zchY
In the year and a half or so since this thread was stared, I've totally fell in love with my dash cams, they have paid for themselves several times over. My truck was kinda vandalized by a coworker last month, you should have seen the look on his face when the video played during his disciplinary hearing.
Also my truck has been hit (video is in the youtube link above), it helped when dealing with the insurance, but I wish I had more cameras to record the car hitting my side for more solid proof.
The one I recommended for $50 shoots good video and worked well, but the below zero Ohio winter did NOT get along well with it's internal lithium ion battery, so now it sometimes won't boot up automatically on a cold day.
I'll have to replace the battery with a capacitor at some point. So its a "workable but you have to futz with it" solution. And it only shoots forward. And generally only films when the car is turned on, though perhaps it can be set up to be a movement detector.
FWIW. Still haven't actually needed mine for any purpose, but I like knowing its there.
