Is it because the chambers resonate like drumheads?

Bike may not be done but CityXSlicker wins the ticket raffle.

Passed a mid 90s GMC Jimmy today on some twisties outside Lake Lure, NC. Turns out it was an unmarked cop. I'll have lots of fun paying this ticket! Dammit!

To celebrate I did some measuring and talked to a SV owner from the supermoto forum. I believe the radiator from a second gen SV650 will be a perfect fit above the cradle so I ordered one of those just a few minutes ago. If that fits in there I will be damn close to riding this thing. I'm excited!

Oooh!

Were you running north towards Black Mountain? I remember when they had the last Honda Hoot in Asheville, I stayed in Blowing Rock and the highway has just been freshly paved... did some pretty fun stuff on my old R65 up and down those roads!

Keep posting up on the imminent birth of the mutant, and be sure to take video with sound! You're not too far away from me over there in W. NC, holler if you roll this way!

I was going south on 74A.

I'm actually in Johnson City. I was just going for a ride over there.

I'm done with the making mounts for all the electronics in the subframe.

Made a little battery holder.

Blacked out the non-essential parts of the taillight to accentuate the twin strips. Parallel twin, get it?

Some subframe shots with all the new brackets welded in place.

And with everything mounted

And finally you can see the blacked out taillight and what it looks like with a license plate

Nice! Hopefully you don't run across some mechanically soulless cop who wants to go to town with fix-it tickets.

Yeah that suck but I'm sure it will happen. I'll be screwed if that happens as there is no going back from here. "But officer look at Yamaha's webpage then look at how much nicer my bike looks!"

I'm so damn close! I can almost smell the smoke!

I got the SV 650 radiator on above the cradle today. I'm surprised to say that I am going to lose a couple degrees of steering lock with this rad setup. I thought it would be well out of the way but it touches the triple trees every so slightly at full lock. Oh well. When I get rich again I'll have two skinny custom rads made to sit further back beside the engine in the shrouds. This will do for now though. I'm getting tired of spending money on this bike. To be honest, I'm tired of working on it. I just want to ride it as I'm sooooooo damn close!

Still a bit of work as I want to add some mounts for the shrouds to the radiator mounts but the rads are solid and in place.

Tomorrow I am going to make a mount for the Trailtech Vapor, and modify the shifter and brake pedals.

That Is. Sooooo Cool!

That is such a clean and functional build I am green with envy. Can't wait to hear that sucker breath.

You may just want to turn in your MC license now and save the State the trouble later....

I've had rough go with LEOs so far in 2013. i may not be too far from turning it in anyway.

I'm uploading another update video to YouTube right now. I've got a Hero2 and my Canon 7D. I'm probably going to get a Hero3 Black soon for a few reasons. One, I want good vids of this bike. Two, I want to get a quadcopter and start adding aerial shots to the photography business.

Anyway, yeah I'll be all around the area with this thing. It'll be a bit of a trailer queen to make sure I always a fresh supply of ethanol free premix around.

I'll post the link to the vid once it's on youTube.

I envisioned a custom-made sticker for each side of the bike- something with Frankenstein's head and the tuning forks in an evaaaal way, and a sh*t-eating permagrin...

"FrankenHaHa!"

"FrankenYammie"

That thing is gonna have to be named- be thinking in Rat Fink terms fo sho!

Watched the vid.

Don't apologize for a messy shop, you've got too many cool things going on, including a Bug project. I can tell that things are fine based on the placement of the Adirondack chairs.

I might suggest a new fabricated brake pedal that resembles a fist flying the bird...

Keep on keepin' on!

I made a little plate type thing to hide the wires a bit when viewed directly from the side.

And I powdercoated it, the fairing stays, headlight mount, and radiator stays in gloss black. My first time powdercoating and it looks great! Admittedetly it is an easy process.

Here you can see the plate thing post powdercoat as well as the front turn signals at the lower back side of the headlights.

Powdercoated the rear motor mount gloss black. I was going to do it in cement color but when i looked at it more I think there would be too much grey there and some detail would be lost. SO the black should contrast well with the grey and show off the second most custom piece on the bike after the cradle. I also coated the crossover tube, clutch cable stay (had to make that as well), lower chain guide, rear brake res. holder, kickstarter, and maybe two other things I'm forgetting.

I also 100% finished the cradle and welded up all the little tabs and things that were just tacked in place. Then I cleaned it up and put in under a coat of primer to protect it until I powdercoat it during the winter. I also finished the pipes, added a gusset to the rear, relocated the spring mounts, and painted them black in preparation for the punk rock artsy treatment later.

This is the closest it has ever been to completion. I'll upload a list of things to still be done later so you can see one by one as I check them off until it is started.

Hope you like it! It's damn close! AHHHH I CANT WAIT!

Might give my Buell a run for it's money in the corners!

just a question, but is there any possibilities of the pipes dragging in the corners, its hard to tell from pics just how much clearance there would be at lean.

Also....this is freaking amazing, and I am super jelly over the bike and your skill! cant wait to see it done!

Thanks Rasta and yes Jake, the pipes might scrape at full compression and lean. To help combat that I am going to stiffen the suspension set up and reduce the travel by about 2-2.5 inches. Just one of those compromise things that I will have to see how it goes and determine a fix, if possible, later.

That thing looks like it has a very low center of gravity.Should handle good when the suspension is sorted. Can't wait to see it run.

Yeah it's pretty crazy to sit on because you can feel that all the weight is really low. Plus there isn't that much weight. It feels like it well be very flickable.

A can of Ford Light Blue powder arrived so I can start powdercoating some accent bits as I go.

Here is the official final checklist. I racked my brain and this is all I can think of that is left to do on the bike.

You should get your powder from powederbuythepound.com they are local to ya, have more colors cheaper and are much better powders than the eastwood stuff.

Oh, that ford blue is spot on, I did a bicycle in that last year.

GREAT LOOKING BUILD!

I love the Ford blue. I can't wait to get the plastics wrapped or painted in that color. It will really pop!
