I sold Blue, my 08 xb12xt. 32,000 miles on the clock and I will miss it. It was the best bike I ever owned. The Uly is living in Mo. now. I am currently riding a 2010 TW200 with 7500 miles on the clock.  I will be selling my spares. | ||

I owned an 87 TW a while back. I took a 3 day safety course on one about 7 years back. It is a strange little bike. Corners well. Has no power, so, skill is required to be quick. Odd thing is the rear tire looks huge, but, is the same size as an XB rear and the front is just a little larger that the XB front tire. Bike weighs 270-280 lbs. Just about the same suspension travel as the XT. Difference is I can put both feet on the ground and don't have to get off to push it backwards. At 80+ mpg it only burns 2 gallons a week going to and from work. I don't worry about breaking expensive parts if a car bumps it in a parking lot. I can start and stop it for yard sales without worrying about charging. It works better for me and what I call on a bike to do at this point in my life. Weight wise it will haul 400 pounds. Maintenance is super simple on the Yamaha thumpers. I grew up adjusting valves, so I don't mind that part. Don't tell Froggy it has a carb. Can rejet, change the idle mixture, and idle speed without a computer. I raised the final drive about 6%. I've got it to 75mph indicated on the flat. Headwinds and hills remind you fast that you may have 12 hp. | ||

Congrats, those are great little bikes. I used to love using them for riding demos when teaching those little training courses. I was looking into them for a general purpose bike if my M2 sold in addition to my XB. Fortunately I wasn't forced to make that choice (yet). | ||

Kawi has a two fiddy that isn't available here, that I would pick up if I could. More of a classic scrambler set up - more metal than plastic; realizing that 400 lbs maybe fine for a street bike.... it is DAMNED heavy for a bike in the woods | ||

If my goal was to play in the woods, I'd go with a 250 thumper or 125 two-smoke. I use this one for getting to work less than 20 miles away, and yard sales, and general putting around. Highest speed limit on my way to work is 45 mph. So, 70 mph has me covered. Heaviest cargo I've ever hauled off road was a hundred pound girlfriend years ago. I don't like more than a 30 pound backpack when riding off road. I still dream of 200 plus on salt, But, this takes care of my needs for now. | ||

Good solid KDX-200 / KDX-220's are showing up for $1500 and less... you won't find a better woods playbike for under $3000. And they are easy to work on and cheap to maintain. | ||

That is nice Slicker. I really enjoy riding my wife's TU250. If my 2000 XR400 wasn't so munged up it would make a fine dual sport. |
