I have been fighting getting the clutch spring retaining clip back on my bike and getting nothing but pain out if it. Is there a trick/process or a tool I can use to get this thing on?

Thanx

If you are talking about the snap ring retainer on the inside lip the answer is - Yup. Snap ring pliers. They should be available at most auto parts stores. I got some cheap from the Harbor Freight that are handy sometimes, and a pain in the butt others.

If you are struggling with it because you haven't compressed the clutch, there's a tool for that too.

No... I'm referring to the retaining ring that holds the diaphragm in. I've done clutches in the past but for some reason, this time I can't get this ring back in the grooves.

I'll have to take a look at my pictures and manual, it's been a year and a half since I did mine. I've got a spare clutch hub in my garage that may help jog my memory. Sorry for the slow reply. You have the spring compressor and snap ring pliers and all that already then, right?

Is this what you're talking about?

I do recall trouble with the ring in the second pic, I think I just had to compress the spring plate more to get clearance, but assembly order was a factor as well.

So the problem ended up being me not pushing the seating ring far enough against the spring (to avoid it sharing space in the grooves with the retaining ring). Duh...

Thanx for the help.
