So, in her world, no one would have guns except the Government and Government agencies and the Government would also be able to spy on you at will as long as it is "Metadata" and approved in "Secret" Courts.
That sounds a lot like some dictatorships from our history books.
Mrs Finestine and her body guards sycophants and other can go first. }
I was able to take my 20 year old son Kyle shooting for the first time yesterday. Poor kid was so nervous, he was shaking like a leaf out in the wind.
He made me shoot everything first, before he shot.
He did really good his first time out, especially with what he was shooting.
Escort MP-S/A Semiautomatic 12 GA, Ruger P-89 9mm and my trusty old Ruger Mini-14 Standard.
His first shot, with the 12 GA was pretty funny. It rocked him pretty good but he stayed with it and ran through all 6 rds.
As a little one growing up. He was allowed to look at and handle all firearms. Just as long as he asked to do so and I was present. Which he did once in a while. He played with all kinds of toy guns and his Red Ryder BB Gun. At no time through the year's did I see anything that would of worried me.
When he started into high school and then into college. I noticed a change in tone, coming from him. Guns were bad....No one should own one. I never said much, he is now an adult and entitled to his opinion.
A few months back, he asked if I'd take him shooting, which surprised me. And of course I said sure.
Yesterday, reminded him guns are no bad, people are bad. And getting out with his old pop, learning about and shooting them erased all of what the teachers and prof's have been trying to program in to him.
Nice story Jim (Pdxs3t). I'm not meaning to judge how you brought up you son, I know nothing about that other than what you wrote above, this is simply an observation. By not getting him shooting until he was an adult, you let others have the first swing at him on what shooting is all about. It's great to see that he wanted to make a more informed decision and asked you to take him shooting. Many kids will get the anti-gun message drilled into them repeatedly starting at age 5 (possibly even younger) and will never want to touch a gun because of the fear instilled in them. Your son beat the system. Many will not.
I'm glad that I was taught the basics of shooting a pistol and rifle when I was young. It was decades later that I found shooting to be a fun sport. I did do some deer hunting as a young adult, but could never make it a regular thing for a variety of reasons. Had I been taught as a young child to fear guns, and never been taught about guns as an adolescent, I'm sure I would most likely not found the enjoyment of shooting. We have people who want to take that away from future generations. That kind of pisses me off. I have my late father's Winchester .308. I can't lay eyes on that gun without getting just a little misty eyed. Few material possessions will last like that and have that kind of personal connection. I have two nephews, one of which I will pass that along to shortly, I just have no clue how to pick which one will get it. It's more than steel and wood.
There is a long story to things...divorce back in 1997 forced the sale of most everything I had at the time (was able to keep the one's that counted). And between 1999 and 2012 not one shot fired for several different reason's.
Prior to 1997 I was on the range or in the woods plinking at least 4-5 times a week. I also hunted too, I no longer though.
Ky and I would talk about things though, as they came up. I would steer him away from things the best I could but, I also allowed him the freedom to form an opinion.
In 2012, Ferris and I happened to be on the same coast, at the same time. Within an hour or so from each other. He took me to Pro Shot's for some range time and sparked my interest in shooting again.
Which caught my son's attention and sparked his interest again.
On the day Ky was born, I bought him a Ruegr Mk II Government model bull barrel .22LR pistol. The Mk II has never been fired and will go to him when he is ready. About two weeks ago he said he was ready...First though want's to learn more, with my Mk II, before he takes his.
He took me to Pro Shot's for some range time and sparked my interest in shooting again.
Glad to be of service. You're a great father and Kyle is a great kid; it's cool that it's finally "his time" re: an interest in shooting sports. The legacy you're now passing down to him is one of the foundation blocks of our nation. Well done, amigo.
Nephew turns 13 this week; what was on his 'birthday' list ? Zombie targets and shot gun shells ! so proud
been shooting, and riding bikes since 5; I made sure he was similarily corrupted.
he even got sent to the principals office for 'sassing' a teacher that was anti gun saying that nobody should ever have guns - he would not let that one slide
teach em early, teach em right : or someone else will indoctrinate them in their mantra and idiom.
And their excuse for publicly mourning one of the Boston Terrorists as yet another victim of tragic gun violence? They sourced their list from Slate.com.
I remember a flaming liberal here on BWB sourcing "news" from Slate.com in the run-up to last year's fake presidential election; in fact, his citation is probably on this very thread. At least he had the decency to apologize for getting his news from the wrong source (although I doubt he changed his ways).
It's unlikely Dict. Bloomberg and his minions have the same decency, and I'm SURE they won't change their ways...
Ban a Big Gulp and his cronies will say and do, what ever it takes to push their anti-gun agenda. And anti-gun is exactly what it is. I've heard the exact words spew out of his mouth.
Mr. No Salt has sent his people to Oregon just recently to twist the arm's of several Senators to force passage of a universal background check in the state. Thankfully his money hasn't been strong enough and the people of the state are paying close attention to the tactics.
The battle was won but the war is not over. The anti-gunnies will continue to try, to strip away the 2nd Amendment. Every little bit they win, is another step closer to a major victory. So we, that believe in the Constitution can not allow them to gain any ground. Keep writing your elected officials. Keep in engaging people politely about the subject as needed. And most important. Don't let your defense's down.
I admit to some prejudice here. I drink 20 oz sodas. Use salt. Believe in the Constitution. Like guns as a hobby. Think rich people who are bored with that game and come over to mess with my life because they believe they are better than us peasants are a&&'oles.
If you lived in New York City you would have to wonder about how the mayor has time to get involved in all of these things across the country? If he is screwing around in colorado and oregon, Who is running NYC? mayor blooming idiot is possibly sizing up for a run at the presidency, hillary benghazi, biden obama scandals, bloomberg can boast he has furthered the progressive agenda, and done all of these wonder full things as mayor
biden is in hiding trying to save his chances. hillary has been outed to try and save her chances. my gut is the repub machine will cut either to pieces....
I don't drink big gulps or soda : Because I prefer coffee- however I have NO urge to make them illegal for those that enjoy them.
I don't have a hand gun with 11 rounds : Because if shit comes to shove, and I have to pull it, and I have to use it, the Sp101 is enough of close range support for what I need to kill or scare off, or fall victim to what ever sh#t I could not talk my way out of....I however will not support any legislation that limits the caliber nor capacity against the 2nd amendment.
I use social media: but I have 12 different accounts with as many aliases and drop dead addresses - track me; I will smell you coming before you leave the station.
I do NOT support ObamaCare: because I believe you should pay for your care at the time of service - with your own damn funds. If your health is not important enough for you to do that; do not by any flipping leap of imagination that it is even on my list of shiat that is considered. 2nd; this thing is a pure power grab, and administrated by the IRS - private property, wealth, and ownership are done.
I do not Support the IRS: They are used as a political retribution agency to reward buddies of B.O. and punish those that oppose him.
I do not support the NSA in its current mission of phones and cable equipment: I fully understand the needs and intent of SIGINT, however - it needs to be tailored to the enemies at hand; and if you believe that American citizen is the enemy - do not be f'n surprised if I decide not to be your friend. F@ck you, and every last one of you.
Immigration reform.... gee - just make them all 'citizens' and extend ObamaCare to them..... I f'n warned you.
DHS - suck it, say no more. The buying of rounds in the amount, caliber, and methods that you have done for 'domestic tranquility' is a pure sham
ATF - Fast and Furious; give them the guns, and then wonder why violence occurs from criminals, druglords and cartels ? How f'n stupid are you ?
The Constitution: I will support and defend against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC. Take a look at what Washington D.C. has done to the Bill of Rights; it looks like the list on the wall from the farm at Animal Farm. Each Amendment has its caveat - in direct opposition to the framers of this nation.
the latest. You no longer have the right to not incriminate yourself with 'silence'. The high idiot court has thrown out the right to remain silent ; and in areas where you have chosen silence - your guilt will be assumed ! Welcome to the USSA Komrade.
It is the best of times, it is the worst of times.... and the time is coming for the Tale of Two Cities to be retold.
Magpul plans to give away 1,500 30-round ammunition magazines in Colorado on Saturday, just a couple days before the ban goes into effect. The magazines will be given away at a “Freedom Festival” on a first-come first-served basis. The event will be held at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colo., from 4-8 p.m., Magpul announced on its official Facebook page.
The other evening I was watching some news and came across a Report on Megyn Kellys' show ( FOX ) It was a home video (nanny cam ) of an invasion, a woman was seriously beaten in a matter of 2 minutes, and thrown down a flight of stairs, ( sustaining serious injury ) In front of her daughter ( 3 yrs old ), the house was locked up the perp, kicked down the back door.
It was horrific, I would like to hear any anti gun type defend their position, after watching that, Megyn Kelly, was visibly shaken after presenting it.
I was upset after watching it.
Barry, Joe, Mike, still think that disarming the populace works, where were the police? the woman could have protected herself if she had been armed,
The obious real reason that this administration and the Democrats wish to strip us of our 2nd amendment right is to disarm us so that they can subdue us as the woman in that video was subdued by her attacker.
the transparency is great aint it...
Me I hope that they find the bastard, and he provokes the officer to put a 9mm in him.
The video was on fox news via Roku ( hence no link ) I warn you it is both graphic and disturbing.
I’m really beginning to wonder about things anymore...
I received an email yesterday, threatening to sue me, if I don’t be quiet about a know design issue. With regard to a firearm that I bought back in April. The manufacture open admitted it was a design flaw. That has been corrected. They did send me a new trigger assembly that addressed the issue. It wasn’t an easy task though. The importer, made the process horrible. And they dropped the ball badly. The biggest time, when I sent them the firearm for repair. And they installed the same, problematic trigger assembly. Then sent it back to me. Expecting me to be happy? I do have to say though, the manufacture was up front, honest and makes quality firearms. The importer though, ugh...
What spurred the email yesterday, from the owner of the import company. I got involved, in a thread on a firearm forum. And I detailed my total experience with the firearm. Which not only covered the issue with the trigger assembly. But I also spoke of the stupid 922R law that pertains to semiautomatic rifles and shotgun’s. And how it affect’s the firearm. 922R is freaking goofy!
My guess is, people have found the thread. And started calling the import company asking for an updated trigger assembly. Because they were experiencing the same issue I had been experiencing. And the issue is a bad one. Which totally makes the firearm inoperable. With no way to clear the problem. Unless the firearm is partially disassembled. Not good, if your are depending on it, when seconds count.
Its pretty sad when a company will stand behind the 2nd Amendment, and scream loudly when the right is infringed upon. But they have no problem stomping all over a person’s 1st Amendment right, and use scare tactic’s, to try and silence them. Even though, they openly admitted the issue.
I just got an email from MidwayUSA telling me that the magpuls I ordered back in December are finally shipping! I was starting to wonder if they would ever come in.
