I have no doubt that some of the parts will be outsourced show me one vehicle company who hasnt even outsourced a little. but I do believe that EBR will always be made (even if that is only assembled) in America. Jake |

Alfau Ive seen that picture, and makes the point that much clearer, just because those parts where outsourced, the Uly was still made in the USA and is regarded by many as one of the best bikes ever made...so EBR doing the same, lowering the price, and maintaining the same build quality, all the while being assembled in the USA is the same thing that Buell did and we all loved them then, so what makes things different now? Im just happy EBR is on the ground running right now, everything else is speculation at this point, lets just rejoice in the current success and worry about what will happens when it happens. Jake |

Does anyone seriously think he'd let someone else run roughshod over him like that again? Put it this way. HERO is a huge if they want controlling interest they'll get it. If Walmart wants to move into your city or town..... They will and very very few times will they be stopped. If HD is the Elephant then HERO is the Jolly Green Giant. |

One of the great things about having more than 50% ownership is that you get the veto vote at stockholder meetings. The problem is that the owner of the other 49.9% can make your life a living hell until you agree to sell. |

Ebr is not publicly traded. We don't even know whether Hero bought themselves a seat on the board. A controlling interest is just that; a controlling interest. They can't make him sell. The walmart comparison is without merit. |

bad - i said something similar in another thread about this subject on this site (ebr/buell news maybe?) as i said there (basically) - erik is a dang genius, he is so inspiring and innovative, its amazing! but dont be surprised if he takes money in trade for more stock in his company. he was advised not to do so before, but still went for it cause he wanted to build his company more - and up until the shutdown it was a good thing. Hero has LOADS of money, dont think they cant woo him over |

Hey We all love the Bikes But The thing is Erik needs to get the best deal for his family He was ripped off before by HD I suspect this deal has taken so long that he did get what he wanted. The Indian guys I met at Daytona we nice but Hmm not real geeky Now Pawan (Spell check here is a mission for Frogster) Is cut from the same cloth as Erik they will see eye to eye the kiddos not so much |

The problem is that the owner of the other 49.9% can make your life a living hell until you agree to sell. I believe that with just 30% ownership you can force liquidation. So even a minority stockholder has some say-so. Heck, I'm just passing time, patiently (only somewhat) waiting for an EBR aimed toward old guys. |

I am sure Erik has done what he needs to do to avoid "the harley situation". This; "...and is regarded by many as one of the best bikes ever made..." deserves a thread of it's own... Having owned one (as well as a few other models and makes), I would disagree. |

If I remember there was more to Erik's original agreement with H-D that was bad in his lawyers eyes than selling 49% of his company. I doubt those things are present in this agreement. The 30% stake in a company also has some significance I thing that is about what the Ford family has in Ford motor co and no one can say they don't control their co. Sometimes not for the better. |

Eh, maybe it's a big F-U to Harley. They're trying to tap the Indian market too. Maybe Erik's just beating them to it... |

Who gives a shit what percentage someone or some corporation owns on a company? I think the real concern is almost four years now and we still don't see an affordable motorcycle being mass produced! I'm seeing more and more Buell faithful jumping ship to other motorcycle brands simply because nothing is available from Buell. I'm lucky because I own the best motorcycle ever built, 2006 XB12X Ulysses, but if I was to purchase a new motorcycle today, it would either be a Honda or a Triumph. |

We must be on a roll for EBR news this week. Copied from another thread, at least one dealer is taking pre-orders for the 1190RX: http://rideforwind.com/ebr-1190rx-pre-sales-starti ng-at-european-cycle-sports/

I saw two things of interest in that article. 1) "there are no plans for a co-branded Hero/Buell motorcycle." 2) "This fall, Buell plans to introduce at least one new motorcycle to his company's lineup." Great news that they have a bike in the pipe for the fall. I'm a bit confused with the link stating that European Cycle Sports is taking pre-orders for October ,2014. There still seems to be lots of conflicting information. A price of $19K is still very steep too. I hate to say this, but it's just not a bike that is likely to push the right buttons for many consumers. Sounds like a long wait is still in order before there's going to be something I would consider. YMMV. |

I will bet you 19k today is cheaper than the last 1200rs that went for 12k in 1992. It is all relative. |

I still have a 1983 Z-50 (same engine minus the electric start) that is 100% original in the engine department other than the o-rings for the cam caps, spark plug, air filter and fluids. I have no idea how many hours are on it. Still cranks first kick every time. ive still got my very first motorcycle. 1985 z50r. its a little rougher then it used to be(after i "out grew it" it got loaned around to cousins and such, one of which was pretty rough on it) but its not trashed, just roughed up, and still runs like a top! motor has never been apart, and its been underwater in the river more times then i care to remember when i was growing up! it still fires right up and will haul me around and damn near 30mph. the coolest part is i've taught both the kids to ride on that bike too! as well as many other people. |

19 isnt bad really, in line with ducati etc sure, its a little more than the Big4, but not by that much when considering size of companies |

$19000 for a sport touring motorcycle with luggage and adjustable windshield like a Honda ST1300 or Ducati Multistrada isn't bad at all, but for a crotch rocket? Not for me! How many remember going into Buell dealers and seeing them selling mostly Uly's? I remember Lake Shore Harley-Buell having 13 Uly's on the floor and maybe 2or 3 other models because the July was the Buell everybody wanted. Hell even when Harley had the Buell fire sale in 2009, there wasn't really any discounts being given like the other models. How many remember the waiting list at dealers when the Uly first came out? |

Well the Panigale starts at $18K. The 1100 EVO Monster is $12K. The 696 Monster, just over $9K. The point is that the Panigale isn't exactly the bread and butter of Ducati. They have plenty of more real world offerings at prices that people can afford. I'm not saying anything about the value of the EBR, just that is misses the sweet spot of the market. As much as I admire the Panigale in the showroom, I also know that I will not be writing that check. I would consider writing the check for the 796 Monster at $10.5K. That's the meat of the market. I wish EBR the best, but they just aren't targeting the bulk of the market. Will this work out for EBR? I really have no idea. I just know that there isn't an EBR bike in my near future. |

Guys- I strongly doubt these three $19k models will constitute EBR's entire model lineup for very long. Lots of hints have been dropped that they eventually intend to market an entire range of motorcycles. They went from nothing to a world-class superbike in ~2 years. By the end of this year, they'll have at least one (and maybe 3) high end models. Hopefully in another couple of years they'll have some models in the ~$10k range. |

Hopefully in another couple of years they'll have some models in the ~$10k range. I hope you're right. Right now we are just hoping for a second bike. A bike that is knocking on the $20K door. We don't even have a solid date on that. Then there's the issue of not having a strong dealer network. Even looking at the "dealers" on their website, the network is weak. The thing about that, is that I know for a fact, that these are not all actual dealers. To say that it's still an uphill battle is understating things. They have some amazing accomplishments. The problem is that history is littered with the wreckage of amazing accomplishments. I really do hope EBR can meet the challenges. The world can be a harsh place. |

maybe a better way to do it is 'without' the dealerships..... I have spent the last 3 years working OUTSIDE of normal avenues - making gains and successes where people said there couldn't be... because they were stuck in doing things the old ways. Small, light, tactical, and very aggressive - there is a flexibility to it; and certainly the H-D mothership was never going to do it. Any Anony lurkers from EBR want to take a chance ? |
