On Sunday I made a fast run from Two Wheels of Suches,being chased by an '88 911 Carrera and a fast guy on a small block Guzzi up to a friends cabin,across the pond from Three C central,to photograph an '80 Ducati 900SS to list on ebay.It was exhilarating to look in my mirror and see the White Carrera and Guzzi V7 Special breathing up the Buells tail. WHHOOOEEE!!!! Dang but that's a sexy beast- I love the vintage Desmo's... wish I had the scratch to own one. The other collected toys were fun to look at too! Regarding the 911: I once had a similar experience heading up the Dragon several years ago... the approach gives you several miles to be enjoyed at a serene pace, on the boundary of Chilhowee Lake, before you cross Tabcat bridge and start the twisties. I was on the XBSX, making time pretty well, and came up on a Mazda RX7, one of the late gen cars with twin turbo's IIRC, just cruising along at the speed limit. I happened to notice that it was running significantly larger width tires than stock... I passed and waved. Hit Tabcat and started wicking things up a bit, getting into the groove. I was working the curves on the approach to the Calderwood Dam overlook, and started to notice a sound behind me- whhhOOOshhhh, whhhhOOOshhhh, whhhOOOOshhh... dammit if that RX7 guy was reeling me in, and FAST.... Realizing that he had a LOT more meat on the ground than I did, plus prolly some various and sundry tuner parts under the hood, I waved him by shortly past the overlook. Been wanting one of those cars ever since. | ||

Yea Squids,the 911 is that car for me.As a child my grandfather owned a '67 912 and a '69 911S.I road many a happy mile in the passenger seat of those cars and have wanted one ever since.Hopefully,I'll get a turn behind the wheel of the White Carrera in the pics.We plan on doing a loop soon,mabye up TN68,across the Skyway to 129,south on 28 from the Deals Gap store down to War Woman road over to Clayton,Ga. | ||

Spent last weekend at the Mid Ohio Vintage Grand Prix. All cars, but you guys would have been in heaven. Lovely noises! | ||

if i would have realized there were more pics then i saw at first(should have kept scrolling) then i would have recognized the garage too... doh... and here i just thought i recognized that bike because it is what it is! he's got some beauties in there. | ||

Hargis and I were just talking about that this weekend. My schedule has been so crazy, but I am in a position where I can hopefully pull a trip to Suches together. With New TWO open, it'll be easier to pull together. I NEED a run to North Georgia. | ||
