I hated to do it, and had been denying I needed to for a good year now, but my back finally got to the point that I couldn't take the riding position anymore. After 30 minutes I was looking for a place to pull over. That's not the way I want to ride. The XT will be missed. |

Sorry to hear it. Have you found a bike your back can ride? |

I found the S-3 position to be The Best for my ailing & aging back. The ST1100 has been good for 250K as well. They are out there, just get sitting! |

I empathize. I had to sell my beloved X1 because of back problems. I replaced it with a Uly XP. I have had no problems since. I had L4-L5 surgery some years ago. |

I race the XB but there's NO WAY it'd serve me on the street. Doubt I'll ever sell the S3 streetbike. |

Before you make that decision, take a look at bar risers and such! Surely there's a setup that will help you... I'd had my XBSX for years, rode WAAAYY too many miles, before I did a 10 minute install of some 1" bar risers from American Sport Bike... completely changed things! Wish I'd put those on from day 1. Check into your best options for both handlebar changes AND possibly seat, peg changes. You might get things worked out... (OTOH, what are you asking to sell the XT? Interested in trading for a '77 BMW R75/7? The XB12XT is the model I've been wanting all along...) Good luck, buddy! |

Sorry squids. The XT is gone. I put risers on it right after I got it because I got short arms and they helped a lot. I have bone spurs on half of my vertebrae along with arthritis. The XT just wanted me to sit up more than my back could take after a few miles. If anyone is interested, the XT is at Greeson's Polaris in Hot Springs, AR. I've already fixed the main issues on it: EBR front rotor and mounting hardware, 3 bearing rear rim, relocated the ECM. It's got Erik's signature on it from Homecoming 2010. There are a few other things I did to it as well. It will make someone a good ride. I can give the nitty gritty on it if anyone is interested in it. Call em and talk to Klaus. I'm not out of the game by any means. Just had to make a change. I'll try to get a pic of the new scoot off of my phone to get it on here. My wife says I now own an "old man bike". My back is happier and I'm still riding. That's what matters. |

There she is. To say it and the Buell are different animals would be an understatement. It is one sweet ride though.

Treefrog: I feel for you. I pretty much lost the ability to ride at all in 2007. Log story as to why... One of these day's, I'll be in a better spot in life. And I can pickup a Spyder. Will be keeping the fingers crossed until then. Its very cool that you found another to replace your Buell. And just remember its not what you ride, its the ride itself. All the best to you and your new scooter! |

Pdxs3t, I hope you're able to saddle up soon. I have a friend with a spyder. He loves it. We went on a 500 mile trip last year while he had a broken ankle. He had his crutches tied to the side of the spyder. He never could have made the trip on a bike. |

Saw loads of Spyders in Quebec a couple of months back & now Mrs G quite fancies one. As for the new scoot, I presume it's a Victory somethingorother but I know jack about them. It's not what you ride, it's that you ride. |
