Huh. Didn't look to me like he was about to ride off. He even put the kickstand down. Dick move, sure, stunting on the street, but did he deserve to get tackled? |

Looked justified to me, I'm pretty sure that when you run into a police car during a pursuit that's assault of a police officer. The cop could probably have technically come out guns blazing (which would have been wrong, but possibly technically legal). |

Not justified at all. Sure, the squid gives bikers a bad name, but that pig gives cops a bad name. The guy did not look like a threat whatsoever, the only threat I saw was a on a powertrip. |

I am torn between laughing at the rider who ran into to cop car and got knocked down or his friends just riding on by. Maybe that officer was on a call and these guys are all blocking traffic and then he gets hit by the unicycle wanna be?? haha.. I woulda tackled him too. He probably should have AGATT and probably just got the wind knocked out of him is all. I only ride solo. I almost got some ticket leo love today but luckily ran into a traffic jam and I just filtered a up a 1/2 mile or so to my exit. |

Looked like a slow take down. I've been involved in hard take downs, broke a guys ribs once. With all the excitement around him, I think he showed restraint. Could have been trying to protect the rider by making sure he didn't wander into traffic in a daze. |

What Ourdee said. Looking at the vid, early on you can see a truck's bed full of peeps, somehow I think the LEO was watching them, maybe they were with the stuntaz gang... then the idiot pogo's right into the cop car! Given how quickly the vid shows the incident, methinks the whole thing had just gotten started when squid hits cop. I also am pretty sure one of the meat-stuntaz was wearing his helmet on top of his head, like a beanie. SOFA KING WE TODD ED. |

What's with morons like that wandering in the left side of the road? It doesn't look like a lot of force to me. I think the cop was in a hurry just to see if he could get a second arrest out of the flock of assholes. Which reminds me, I saw an 80's cover band by that name advertised in Worcester last night. Made me laugh in my helmet for a good solid minute. |

That video may never be on Youtube as the LEO probably confiscated it on the scene as evidence. But awesome piece of entertainment it would be. (Message edited by Buellrider66 on June 21, 2013) |

Bunch of idiots, all those retards riding to the left of the double yellow - riding straight into oncoming traffic, how the hell are you going to justify that as a rider if you crash? Then knuckle-head doing the wheelie tries to lane split... wth? The only good thing in his favor was he was at least on the proper side of the road. He was obviously not in control, wheelie got higher as he approached the stopped vehicles. He's still getting a reckless driving ticket and the owies to go with it at the very minimum. I have no idea why the "tackle" (hard to determine how much actual force was used in the linked vid, it's pretty quick) but that whole situation looks stupid to me. Cop car was unmarked and in a regular lane of travel, not stopped waiting to pick up a ticket or arrest. You saw a lot more than me Baf. I think there might be a little bias there... Just my opinion there though. Just one more reason to avoid group rides, stunters, and generally stupid people. |

What never ceases to amaze me, Biker gets drunk, cruises through a red light and is taken down by a car. Ends up in hospital on life support, all his biker buddies who were drinking with him plead to all and sundry in the club and on facebook to contribute to helping this fool while at the same time giving car drivers a hard time. You ride like an idiot, you pay the price and it's nobody's fault but your own! And what about the innocents just minding their own business on their way somewhere who get caught up in your stupid shit?? Did this fool learn anything??? No!! Probably not!! |

More than once I've been cruising along the expressway, perhaps a few mph over the local speed limit, ( but this is NOT an admission of any wrongdoing ) when I get passed by a bunch/string of speeding, stunting guys on rice bikes. ( not a knock, nearly every bike I've owned has been from the fine folk on the Islands of Japan ) I always slow a little, try to crank up my situational awareness, am very, very careful not to maneuver in front of the probable incompetent riders as they flow by, am friendly, and try very hard not to appear to be one of the group. Group behavior I've observed matches the video fairly well. There's a desire to stay in a group and not let traffic separate the really stupid fast ones lane splitting ( illegal in NY. And a sure way to get State & local police upset ) from the slightly less stupid ones following along. This is what leads to real moves like passing across a double yellow, en mass, and not being prepared to stop, especially when the police get involved. I learned last century you can't run away from Motorola. I've also has police cars pull up next to me right after the flow of a group passes by, look over, and exchange head shakes. Since MY visual appearance is often quite similar to the group's, I assume my "body language" is what tells the police I'm not with them. To a non enthusiast, a Reactor Yellow Cyclone with a black S3 fairing, and a rider with full face, colorful helmet, and ( usually ) textile armor jacket must look the same as the idiots in the video. On the "takedown". Hard to tell, but it looked more like a safety yank out of traffic than an angry response. Not zero anger, after all the idiot just rammed a car, even if lightly. Reminds me of a line from a western to the effect, "you're good kid, but not good enough". A nice rant on getting pulled over. http://www.pjtv.com/?cmd=mpg&aref=ur0&mpid=56&load =8568 |

Watch the video again, and pay attention - this is where "situational awareness" comes into play. If you can't see it in a video when you know you need to be watching for it...how well are you seeing things on the road? You can clearly hear a siren about :10 BEFORE the guy rams the car - I heard the first wail in the video at timestamp :08. Watch him as he's riding the wheelie, look past him and at the cruiser. Unmarked, yes...but if you look at the license plate area you can see white lights flashing and if you look VERY carefully you can see taillight strobes. And you can also clearly see the officer is in the middle of a traffic stop - hence the siren, flashing lights, and pickup truck half onto the shoulder in front of him with its brake lights lit. Excessive force? Not at all. One against (potentially) many. Subdue, secure, and evaluate. Looked perfectly executed to me. |

This was in the news a few weeks ago, this was part of a massive group that blocked a highway and was stunting. Several of them were arrested. |

What i saw was the officer starting to pull the truck over and the Wheeliey Moron cant see over his front tire as the police hits his lights siren and breaks, and , WHAM. You loose. Im glad the officer took him down. Needs to work on his technique tho. Wrap-sholder in gut-drive with legs-lift-follow threw-pile drive on concrete. |
