As some of you may be aware, I got the opportunity of a possible job based in Montreal.

Well Mme G & I got here yesterday & I saw the company this morning, it all looks good so far, & the job's mine when I want it. Yaayy.

The rest of this week is doing touristy stuff & tooling around around looking at where we might like to live, schools, jobs for Mme, etc etc.

If she likes it we'll be upping sticks & flying west.

I've got a rental Dodge Charger to ponce about in, & very nice it is too.

I'll keep you all posted.

Bon Chance, Monsieur Grincheux.

Montreal est un bonne cite'...

That was the closest Big City to Upstate NY in my college years.

Scared me.

Gone West has a different meaning to a pilot!

Glad for you!

Slaughter, I know what you mean, the phrase came into common usage in aviation from the WW I fighter pilots, though it was used by most allied troops.
The reason behind it being that the front was roughly N-S & if you were killed or injured you went back behind the lines heading west.

Don't worry though I've no intention of buying a farm either. (a house with a barn though...)

Seen a few Buells knocking around Montreal yesterday & today all XBs don't know if any are on here, holler if you are & we'll meet for a gargle.

Montreal HD is worth a stop. No more Buell, but they have BMW and all the nice gear to go with it. My guess is they were "good guy" Buell dealers. There is also an exotic car dealer across the street with all sorts of eye candy.

If you go through with this then you have got to cross the border and make some rides. I'm thinking the ADK III would be quite doable from Montreal.

I don't know a thing about Breton women, Grump, but I sincerely hope Madame G. is open-minded and up for an adventure in the New World. The Continent's loss will be our gain.

Long ways to go yet, Montreal we didn't like at all, some of the surrounding areas are quite nice, but don't have the feel that we're looking for.

Quebec is lovely, nice & clean, friendly folk, a lots to do but very touristy.

We're currently in Trois Rivieres about halfway between the 2, nice place, good biking scene, very friendly folk, & much better property prices.

It's the current leading contender.

So many factors to take into consideration though, including replacement of virtually all household appliances & electrical stuff, as we're on 220v 50hz.
Then there's vehicles & schools & something for wifey to do for a living, etc etc.
The list goes on & on.

What with all the paperwork involved, & selling up in France, & the new job, & setting up home, I don't reckon I'd get much riding in before the snow anyway & that's before even getting a bike.

My M2 is a 99 model so next year it'll be 15 years old which apparently will make it easier to register here so I'm told, but I'll be looking for a Guzzi Stelvio so that I can rack up the miles in comfort & still run the gravel roads here.

We'll see how it all comes out, I'd gauge Mme G at about 70-75% positive at the moment, but she's a woman so that's just a wild guess, as I'm sure you guys can understand.

Going to do some more exploring tomorrow, I'll let you all know how it goes.

Dammit Ken, you stole my line!
60 Hz just gets him up to speed...

It's a good thing he doesn't work in my paper mill; @25 Hz he'd never get here!

We had 25 hz in a old farming area it came from the sugar mills. You could watch the pluse of the light bulbs. ALLEN BRADLEY made the only 25 50 and 60 hz multi rated starters I ever saw.

After more research & LOTS of discussion, we've come to a decision.

I've just accepted the job offer & now we have to get on with the paperwork, apparently it takes 2-5 months, so that'll give us time to put things in order here.

Goodness only knows if we're doing the right thing, but we're going to have a crack at it.

So cross all your fingers & toes for us.
