11 lbs top case 15 lbs side bags (ea) factory recommendations regardless of size. keep in mind these are loads as they pertain to a Uly, configured for an 1125 may be different, and the bags themselves are probably rated for more. |

If you rely on the latches to pull the bags shut, they WILL break (so I've been told). They're plastic and fairly fragile. Be sure nothing is caught in the lip of the bag, push it completely closed, then latch it and you'll be good. |

Palmer Products sell safety straps that keep the bags closed in the event of a latch failure. They're a good product & would be easy to manufacture/replicate at home. I never had a problem w/the bags opening whilst riding but I bought them as insurance as this has been reported in the past & I never wanted to experience it! Chris C |

I've put some pretty heavy loads in them and never had a problem. NEver broke a latch either, but I know to push the bag shut and make sure it shuts then latch it... as opposed to using the latch to lever it shut. The only time I lost a bag was after the bike did a flip off the side of a corolla. The bag didn't let go until the entire foot peg support casting exploded. So I'd say the weight rating is "enough". ![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |

"Nate whats the story on the latches?" I read about the weakness and the techniques needed to keep them in one piece here years before I got my uly. I haven't broken mine yet but I figure it's only a matter of time. (Roughly 45,000 miles) |
