What City said- check the provenance of the fairing, that alone might be worth some $$$ to the right person. Those old XS's were pretty cool bikes, especially the triples. My best buddy bought a 750 triple with a Kerker pipe, MAN did that bike sound good! I've always thought that bikes made after the early 90's got too homogenized, too boring. The 80's saw a LOT more different tech, turbo bikes, and the advent of several different modern genres of bikes. Lemme know when someone finds a pristine, low miles XN85 for cheep...

Check out my cafe fighter thread. Started out as a 1981 CB750. Almost done ,just paint and wiring and hopefully done for this summer. When I first got it home my wife laughed and said "You look gay riding that"! But as soon as I had it mocked up and showed her the potential, she looked at it and said "That's mine now"! http://www.bcclassicmotorcycleclub.com/simplemachi nes/index.php?topic=494.0 |

We're going to party like it's....14 years ago? DAng. Truth to tell, The symbol formerly known as Prince, has made some good tunes, and the classic mini-tourer he rode in the film was perfect in it's honesty of ability and economics for lower middle class motorcyclists of the era. I rode a Suzuki GT380 flat out all the time and thought I was having fun. Leaving a smoke trail that would horrify a modern environmentalist as much as it did Matrons then. I built a GS750B cafe racer, made it a touring bike with twin buckets and generally found I had a preference for simple flat seats, all around, but always wanted a King/Queen seat. Never had the style bike for it. It makes for great pictures from, and of, your Lady passenger, and with duffle/sleeping bag bungeed to the sissy bar, a practical touring config. Sorta. |
