Many of us discuss Politics and current events...

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/25/senator -puts-hold-on-air-force-officer-promotion/

This points up some thing I believe patently wrong in Washington.

A female commander in the air force up for promotion,to an elevated rank.

The promotion is blocked by a female senator ( with a reputation for being a ditz ) because she over turned a conviction on an "airman" for sexual assault

Ok its fair to say that, Women are largely the victims of Sexual Assault..
so why would this officer over turn an SA conviction?,

My guess was that after reviewing the evidence she felt that it may not have been sufficient to warrant a conviction.
As it was the "airman" was likely dishonorably discharged, which has a number of serious consequences

So our friendly ditzy senator, who has had her foot in her mouth lately, on second amendment issues holds up the appointment.

( The gaffel telling an elderly man that he did not need a gun but to call the police, then after he leaves her she says that he would die before they arrive )

To my way of thinking

The Air force Officer being female would be sympathetic to the victim, If the decision were to be based on feelings, but it was based on facts and the law she overturned the decision for a reason and likely a good one.

For a woman to excel in the Military arena in our country says a lot about the the officer in question,
particularly as far as intelligence and judgment go.

The senator has had a spate of Hoof in Mouth lately Demonstrating that she lacks both judgment and intelligence. I see a growing pattern of this in Washington these days.

you have to wonder...

Consider, the qualifications to be a Senator.

You have to be rich. People with jobs don't have time to raise that much money and campaign for 1-8 years.

You have to be convincing. You have to sound like you know what you're talking about, and memorize the buzzwords your party uses to pacify it's base.

You have to be able to con people into giving you millions of dollars and insist with a straight face you don't take bribes.

Other than a will to power, and an ego larger than your body, That may be it.

You certainly don't have to know history, technology, the law, or the Constitution.

Most of these folk are lawyers, I leave it to you if that's a factor in the above requirements, or an enabler to them.

Oh! I forgot. Honest people need not apply, at least this Century. Perhaps that will change. Not holding breath.
