As summer is approaching I am starting to do some research into insurance companies! I was wondering if anyone has some suggestions on to where to find the cheapest yet reliable insurance... Background: 21 years old. Endorsement for a little over a year. Wear a helmet. Insuring a 2000 Buell M2 Cyclone. Resident of Michigan! I would like full coverage on the bike also. |

Geico. Price is good, service is excellent. Nothing better in my opinion, been a customer for 21 years now. |

Progressive Give Flo a try. I was with State Farm for over 30 years. But they would no longer carry my Homeowners because I have 3 pit bulls Went to USAA. They don't cover bikes but referred me to Progressive. $220 a year for full coverage on 2 bikes Call around, it can only save you money. |

I have progressive in Michigan. I think it was ~$400 for the year with full coverage. If you take a safety course you'll get a discount as well. |

I don't like Progressive or GEICO because of how they get politically involved where and insurance company has no business. Foremost has done well for me over the years. |

I used to have Dairyland in MD, and they were reasonable (I think that somewhere a ways back Dairyland had a pretty good understanding of Buells as "not-crotch-rockets), but in NY state Progressive has given me the best rates. Shopping around is best. The more important question for me would be: What value can you get insured for on a 13 year-old bike? I'd hate to pay full coverage only to find that any accident ends up a write-off due to the bike "not being worth more than x. |

Don't buy Progressive unless you support the ACLU. The CEO is a big donor. Geico was waaay cheaper for me. |

I was with Progressive for a year. No tickets or any change and they tried to up my rates. I dumped the greedy dogs. |

I need to start shopping around. Don't hate but my local place wanted $450 a year more for adding an '05 Hayabusa. I know it's known for it's top speed, blah, blah, blah but I know the seller and know it's history and it has less than 3K miles. |

I had Progressive. When I found out what their vision for American was, I shopped around. Since I have my car with Allstate, and also homeowners, I went with them. Allstate charged about half of what Progressive did. Had to do with the "bundle". So if you have car and/or homeowner insurance, it might be a good idea to see if you can save money putting all your insurance with one company. |

Here's why I won't consider GEICO... http://www.silverdoctors.com/geico-canceling-insur ance-because-customers-work-in-firearms-industry/ Progressive has their reason in their name. |

I may not agree with the CEO's political stance or the company funding police, but money talks (and me walking isn't going to make a big difference). In NY, Geico gets me the best rates on my car, by FAR. Somehow, I ended up being underwritten on an insurance tier that doesn't surcharge traffic violations (unless they result in an insurance claim). I've also been crashed into a few times, luckily all of it was when I was in my car, and Geico only lowered my rates after every incident. Add in several comprehensive claims for glass loss, and I have way too many claims for comfort, yet the only time they raised my premium was by ~$40 when my car turned too old to be eligible for the new car discount anymore (and then it dropped by that amount at the next renewal anyhow). Progressive gives the best rates on the bikes. Their multi-vehicle discount is funny, when I bought my ATV and added that to the policy (insurance required for riding on the trail systems I ride on), they mailed me a refund check. The multi-vehicle discount was worth more than the premium on the ATV. I've quoted out moving the bikes to Geico, the car to Progressive, or going with another insurance company, and any other scenario costs me several hundred dollars extra yearly, if not thousands of dollars more. Either way, as a 23 year old single male, with a not exactly pristine driving record, I've been very lucky. I pay about $1000/year total, and that's for full coverage on a KIA Forte, comp/liability on a Blast and 1125CR, and liability on a Can-Am Outlander 650XT. |

Costs me less than $500 a year for my '06 Ulysses, here in Torrance, CA. If I was in your situation, I would get only what is mandated by the state. And, maybe medical coverage for myself and a passenger, if I could afford the coverage. Full coverage, IMO, is not worth the money on a 13 year old bike, unless you pay for a rider that will cover "a" declared value that you set. |

Yep. Especially with parts availability. Your tuber will likely be "totaled" with not much damage. I'm paying $75 a year for liability on my S2 and XB12 (each). The savings vs. having full coverage (over a few years) will pay for any parts I have to replace due to an at fault accident, even if I have to replace the entire motorcycle. |

I'm currently having GMAC quote all of my stuff, they gave me a good deal on my cars (or let's say better than I had). I'll let you know how it goes. |
