Well not actually but finaly the end has come for the old Dodge after 215,000 miles and 10 years of service. This morning I started her up and the a/c compressor seized solid and ripped the belt off. I freed it up and while trying to instal an xtra belt in fargin -2 dgree cold I just said it I am going and buying a new Van and I did. Navy Blue Nissan NV 1500 2012 $26,800 out the door. |

Nice choice. We've had several customers ask about options on the NV for our builds as an alternative to Sprinters. The $40,000 buy in on a Sprinter sets a lot of buyers on their heels. There are lots of options for cargo on the NV. The high-top would make a great bike hauler. The factory in Canton, MS thanks you. |

RD, the Sprinters drive so nicely and have amazing shift logic programmed deep in their ECM soul. Still, I need to try out an NV. I was talking with one of the M-B engineers working on the Sprinter project and he was telling me that the E-class was the foundation for the ASC/DSC and other parts of the logic in the Sprinters. I just know that a 3500 series dually Sprinter would also make a great bike hauler for that track bike I don't (yet) own. Now back to Brumbear's NV. |

Still kicking myself for not buying a Sprinter when they were $20k cheaper. Then again, the newer ones have a better engine. I'll have to check out the NV. What I want is the diesel Grand Caravan w/stow & go seats. It's enough for my needs, and with the oil burner it gets 30mpg. The dealer has no idea that the diesel exists, no idea when they will be sold here, and no clue as to how to get money out of me. The Caravan is a bit small to haul a bike, but that's what trailers are for. I just sold the '99 Ford van, and I wish it and it's new owner luck. I couldn't quite fit the Cyclone in it with the S3 fairing anyway... |

Aesquire, I just bought a new 2012 Chrysler T&C to replace my Dodge Dakota while I'm waiting for a new pick-up. I'm not so sure I'd want the diesel version of it. I checked the specs on the UK website and their diesel has 178hp, 265 ft/lbs, and 0-62 of 12.7 seconds. The gas version here has 283hp, 260 ft/lbs and 0-60 of 7.7. After 4400 miles I'm getting close to 27 mpg hwy and 22 mpg average if the onboard computer is to be believed. The diesel gets 22 city and 37 hwy but seems to be not enough engine for a vehicle with a 6000 lb GVW. |

The state of nj just completely sucks. I have to register the machine commercial, so after the deal is done the dealer says you need a corp code. I say I am a proprietorship not a corp I don't have one. You have to have one I said no I don't so I tell him listen I don't care what your talking about I don't have time for this you don't want my money take the truck back.It turns out I need one but it has nothing to do with taxes it is a registration thing for commercial vehicles in NJ and I bought the van in PA. So now I had to download a BA-8 form type a letter get a copy of my buisness license and my 6 points of ID and go to the DMV and apply for a corpcode. Which they will send me in 5-7 working days all this for a registration I am moving my business out here as soon as possible. It is just to hard to make money anymore. |

We dont usually get involved in assisting with registrations in NY and NJ for very specific reasons. You just listed at least three. Connecticut customers of ours relate having a fairly simple time doing much of it online. |

I've got a Sprinter 2500 diesel for wholesale and it's pretty awesome as far as delivery vehicle go. Aesquire, the new Grand Cherokee has the diesel option. It's supposed to be available for the Wrangler and down the road, the Caravan line. They seem to be interested in embracing the diesel side of things before the other domestics since they have close ties with Fiat now. |

Sprinter = cookie or potato chip delivery truck. The originals were 300td car running gear in a giant box. |

The Grand Cherokee is a fine off road vehicle, and a great road beast, but it's not what I want. Only a couple of times a year I use the whole volume capacity of a Grand Caravan, ( or a full size van if that's what i have ) for hauling massive medieval camping gear, armor, camp showers, etc. The rest of the year it's a few 8' sticks of lumber and a weekly 1/2 face cord of wood ( for a buddy ) with the floor covered by a heavy tarp. Or just 1-3 people. The G. Cherokee, though nice, doesn't have the capacity to haul what I need to, and thus I'm better off with the ( 2/3 paid for ) VW Sportwagen. ( which also sucks for hauling 2x4's ) I may be heresy to the pickup crowd, but vans/minivans fit my perceived needs better than a pickup. One desire is the ability to just pull into a rest stop, crawl in back and sleep for a few hours. When doing the medieval camp runs, I always leave the mattress on top for that purpose, and when empty a Minivan has plenty of crash space. ( as opposed to crash/crumple zone ) I will probably end up with a well used Caravan winter beater for now, and the diesel should be out, new, about the time my VW payments are over.... No sense in being smart, is there? The diesel side of things is a NEED, not a want for the car makers, since the CAFE standards are meant for social engineering, forcing people into smaller, more expensive cars. The Only way Chrysler can sell Hemi Challengers is to have very high mileage cars to sell too. Ditto the other guys. Diesels in CARS got a real bad reputation in the US when the Olds diesel cars came out back in the 1980's. The Top Gear guys tend to hate diesels, preferring to wind up small gas engines "until the valves come out and dance on the hood... then shift". Then again, the Top Gear guys never understood American Pickup Trucks at all, since they don't haul lumber, garden stuff or firewood, just circulate the track and go home in their sports cars. Even the best of the Typhoons or Warlocks were never meant for track use, but rule in a real world of heavy stuff and hard work. |

The diesel lump is a VM motori unit, 4 cyl 2.8l http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VM_Motori I've had a number of VM powered vehicles over the years, my old Alfa 164 with the pushrod 2.5 went like a train & finally went to the scrapper with near on 300,000 miles on the clock. |
