"After all, Isn't that what bought BUELL down, that they couldn't sell bikes?" Ummm- with few exceptions, HD dealerships never really put forth the effort, sometimes sabotaging efforts, to sell Buell product. I was just thinking yesterday about how my sales managers hated losing the floor space to Buell, knowing that their higher $$$ chrome queens would pull a higher margin... EBR won't repeat those mistakes, betcha a dollar. |

The bikes were selling - I sold more every year; our allocation kept getting bigger, and we kept selling them out, we traded out sportsters to other local dealers to get Buells - it was a win win - I got another Bueller, we got rid of an aged sporty, - and our used market of them was growing too. Sold two of the police bikes with orders for two more - they were selling. It just was not the target market for the Mother ship. and it is a damn shame the way it was killed. (ps - I don't know that the US economy comes back if they keep strangling us with overpriced health care while also stopping the petrol development in the midwest; idiots) |

I'd have to check the numbers again, but if I remember right there were year to year increases, with it leveling off when the economy started tanking, then the closing happened shortly later. |

You have to wonder what kind of a company would buy MV Agusta? Nobody was able to make a profit with those bikes! Very cool yes but really? If they hadn't been so stupid buying Agusta they surely could have kept a profitable company like Buell alive. That's what happens when bankers run a company. Trust me I know!!! When Harley was in it's hey day it was run by Bikers but since they all retired and the bankers took over the bikes just keep getting cheeper and cheeper in quality. Bankers are good for the stock holders and that's about it! |

X1 2000 is my only experience with BUELLs. Apparently these initial prototype FI models were a rush release, before they were ready even, which supposedly accounts for the many updates needed. Moral :- Don't rush the man to market EBR models before they are ready unless you want the heartache of walking to the dealer for a fix. I wonder where HERO fits into the agenda ? |
