the patriot/compass will be using a traditional 6-speed auto built by hyundai starting next year. no more cvt, couldn't get the fuel economy they hoped. good around town, just not so great down the highway. fyi |

yeah, I like the WRX...but I'm generally not smart enough to check accumulations before heading out. Ground clearance plays a factor. For "driving in snow" I can do just fine with my little FWD's (I got the computer in my CSX and woo-HOO is it running great!)...but I like doing dumb stuff which is where ground clearance comes into play. I don't to be a Subie-snowplow |

Rat, If you want a project you can swap the Forester suspension on to a WRX. Subarus are like Legos, you can swap parts until you get what you want. |

More than enough projects already, but thanks. I did see Jeep is bringing back the Grand Cherokee diesel for '14...pretty badass look to it as well. Not so much "off road", but a very sexy looking truck. And 30 mpg. |

oh you mean the Ford Grand Cherokee or is it the Jeep Exploder every time I see them, I get confused. The Diesel GC should be nice. |

The only thing I have to add is the story of making sure my Durango would start Monday. Removing the seats from my Jeep and putting them in said Durango Monday night. Tuesday morning rolls around and the Durango will no longer start. Starter fluid... nope New battery... nope Milk crate installed in Jeep w/2x4 backrest... seats should be done tomorrow. The tech at the auto shop got a pretty good laugh out of my seat set up |

Post a photo of the radio...got a few 1.5 DIN radios kicking around. Or just do what I did in my YJ - put in a Sony marine stereo. Gets wet, keeps on crankin' tunes |

What is this? Tunes on a trail rig? It has always been about big tires, big suspension, big power, low gears, climbing, sploshing, throwing mud and so on.....but tunes on a trail rig? What you got there is a highway driver or a parking lot show truck. Tunes are for tow vehicles. Carry a communications radio and a weather radio for sure.....but tunes?? Next I suppose you will be texting while mudding? Isn't it enough to carry a cooler with lunch and maybe a beer or two? You are supposed to be listening for the sound of expensive parts breaking or grinding. If you are going to trash a $700 rear end you want to hear it explode! Or that $1800 transmission, you got to hear it cry as it's fluid leaks out from a rock bash. Or the hissing of steam and your antifreeze escaping as a stick pokes through your $300 radiator. Tunes. There is no place for tunes on a REAL Jeep! |

Oh Ralph, calm yourself! Ahhh memories.....camping in the mud at TWO.....multiple times, the all night moaning from our room at Homecoming '07, freezing at Daytona, you and Ken with your big surprise for me at our DaytonaII trip, who could forget our plush beds and watching black and white movies on our way back from Minnesota in '10.....and those many gaming nights playing with fire at WV Buell Rallys, not to mention several BBB layovers at my private campground. Life really has been good to us, has it not?..... Have I said too much? I don't want to upset Gary. |

well... they didn't pack my "new" radio in a manner that would insure it was in working order when it arrived. It seems to have been dropped and broke the on/off/volume knob and cracked the plastic on the same corner.... I am bummed |

Well I read the rules of the Jamboree. It seems I may be beyond qualification with my current configuration. My tires are over 37", my lift is over 6", and it is not registered and insured(yet). We have a redneck 4x4 park that opened near Sweetwater Tn. this past year. They are having a large 4th of July weekend event that I am looking into. |
