hello buell friends, this buell meeting will be way to far to visit for most of the bwb members.because of the interest in the italian buell weekend last year i thought it would be a good idea to post this meeting over here. after visiting buell meetings in several countries the past years,i thought it should be possible to organize a european buell meeting. before i start organizing, i`d like to know your opinion on my idea. my idea is to find a location which is central for a lot of the buell owners in europe. there has been no decision made at this moment ,but it appears that the south of germany would be a accessible location for a lot of countries. the schwarzwald area (germany) could be a option. this area is very close to french and swiss borders and also provides some nice roads to have a nice tour. preview on my idea: -location: south of germany (schwarzwad).close to french and swiss borders because it is central for a lot of buell communities.this area also allows to have a nice ride in the area -when: weekend (saturday/sunday) at the end of august/begin september 2014!!! -why 2014.most meetings in 2013 have already set a date.i am talking to the organization from other buell meetings.it might be a idea to combine the other meetings. a meeting like this will take a lot of preparation. -entertainment: i will try to keep it simple saturday: buell meeting-bbq-music-party sunday: breakfast-goodbye this idea is still in progress!! to my opinion it must be possible to get european buell owners together. please feel free to contact me or come up with ideas.this will not be my meeting organized by me alone.this will be a meeting from EUROPEAN BUELL OWNERS . i`m open for ideas and help this message will be spread on several buell forums.feel free to spread the word . because most people will have to travel a long distance, it is important for me to know if people have serious interest to travel to schwarzwald to join this meeting . european buell owners should unite please join te buell owners europe facebook: http://www.facebook.com/buellowners.europe hope to see you guys&girls at the european buell meeting in germany cheers, roy impression from the italian buell meeting: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/693735.html?1347906225 |

I'm hoping I could pull this off as well Dutch. What does it cost to ship a bike over there? |

What does it cost to ship a bike over there? It's not cheap, & the paperwork & insurance will be a nightmare. It'd be cheaper to get somebody you know in Europe to buy you a bike & then resell it for you when you're gone. |

I may end up just renting a bike but wh knows by plane the costs are about 2K but if you got time and we do, ship isn't so bad. |

2014 give us here in the States enough time to plan. I like the idea. Maybe we can have the Custodians put this up as a STICKY - where we can get updates and not the usual chaos of a discussion thread. |

I might suggest that the potential attendees pool their resources to ship everything over in a container: bikes, gear, clothing, etc. A 40' box can comfortably hold a dozen bikes. I know guys that do this bringing bikes to bike week each year from EU. The container would cost around $1500 each way. |

I don't want to put a dampener on your shipping ideas but please contact a shipper who specialises in vehicle shipping. You'll need temporary import permits into Europe, you'll probably need to post an import bond to ensure that the vehicles leave European territory within the specified time. You'll almost certainly need specific insurance as your current domestic US insurance is very unlikely to cover you in Europe. I'd suggest shipping to a US friendly country such as Holland or Germany or UK. UK will be a slight bit easier due to the language & "The Special Relationship" but it's an island so you'll have to get a ferry to mainland Europe. In your shoes I'd be looking to ship into Europort & fly into Schipol in the Netherlands. I would advise against shipping to France as Bureaucracy & jerking the string of Anglos are national pastimes here, it's not worth the risk. Check in the Classic Car press as many shippers advertise there, & cars are often shipped for shows & suchlike. |

Back in'07,I rented a Moto Guzzi from Agostini's in Lago di Garda (Lake Como) for around $110/day, all inclusive. Nice ride up through the Alps to the Rally... |

Brum, I might just sneak into your carryon. I haven't spoken German since I was junior in high school and my french isn't even good enough to get me around most of Quebec, but it's the effort that counts! If I were renting, I'd try to get something that we can't get around here. Dutch - may be worth putting a thread in the Storm Fronts section for you event - more likely it won't get lost, especially since this is so far off at this point. |

Dutch - have a moderator rename the thread to start with the (expected) dates - that way it will appear at the top with all of the other events. Right now, it's buried down in the middle amongst the regional groups. That forum is organized alphabetically, so anything that starts with a number will appear at the top of the page. |

Thanks, I'll sent froggy a message. Almost 900 people joined the buell owners europe facebook. Talked to a lot of buell owners and they are very interested to join. In spring i will meet a couple of buell owners from different countries. They have experience in organizing meetings and will help to organize this meeting. |

I am confident you will get it done, it is looking like it will be cheaper to rent a bike once in Germany but I still have a couple cards to pull before then I will keep all the us guys up on it. |
