Just one more reason, below, to strongly consider our Second Amendment rights. Sent to me from a good friend in the great state of Tennessee. Make up your own minds on what happened.
Have you seen the latest bait? People are posting how Ronald Reagan said something about this or that and Snopes is there to save the day and affirm that what he actually said confirms Obama's proposal to ban certain guns and certain magazines.
Guess what? I disagreed with Reagan's comments then, so I don't give a crap. Obviously I'm supposed to jump if someone invokes the name of Reagan! Weather he really said it this way or that I don't care. Pompous ass holes who think they know what is right for me or for you.
And in other scopes scoops, apparently I'm related to an orangutan who claimed that baseball bats killed more people then guns did, ergo I'm an idiot for thinking gun control legislation to be a irrational.
Sorry, I'm venting here because FB has become a battle ground where many dubious friendships are taking flak. I'm always surprised at the contempt for anyone opposed to their liberal-progressive views on gun control(and many other subjects) and that they forget that maybe one of their friends, like me, are being lumped into their rediculist they want to hold up to public ridicule. Granted I've seen enough of that happen from the reverse camp, too. But I disagree with that and have never found that helpful.
I wander if this dynamic is anything like what must have happened in Germany in the 1930's? Wait, I can't insinuate a comparison between what the reigning social-progressives are doing in America to what happened in Nazi Germany, that would be stupid of me. I'm such a lowly, ill-informed, irrational, NRA loving, neanderthal, that should be ignored in any intelligent debate.
Interesting, limiting a clip to 7 rounds...still would have killed the 6 adults in Newtown + 1 child. And thats only the first clip. This limit makes no sense to me

Nothing speaks more against gun control than the results of it:
Rick, that's a pretty powerful video. Thanks for posting up the link.
The NRA warned us for the past four years that the President would come after our legally-owned firearms with a vengeance if reelected.
They were right on the money. I guess the Pres has more flexibility now, eh?
And he's just getting started (although this has all been in the planning stages for a long time). This - the massive, coordinated, relentless, vicious nationwide assault on the Second Amendment - is THE ultimate test of the foundational bedrock of our great nation:
Will the USA continue to be the land of freedom and liberty, as our Founding Fathers fought so valiantly for?
Or, will we fundamentally transformed into the USSA - United Socialist Soetero Amerika?
We all need to start calling our "assault weapons", homeland defense tools. The liberals wouldn't want to ban something that is named "homeland defense tool". And a "clip/clips", are magazines!
Rick, at 4:02 in your UK video they tell the story of Tony Martin, who is currently in prison for defending his home and his life against two perps who between them had 63 prior convictions (damn!) when they broke into Mr. Martin's home.
The timing of your post is eerie - I received the following as a forward in my in-box just yesterday morning:
quote:
You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.
Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers.
At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.
With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.
You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.
In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar.
When the intruder brandish es it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.
The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.
One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.
As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.
In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless..
Yours was never registered.
Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died.
They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.
"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing.
"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."
The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.
Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them..
Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.
But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."
The thieves have been transformed from career criminal s into Robin Hood-type pranksters..
As the days wear on, the story takes wings.
The national media picks it up, then the international media.
The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win.
The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects.
After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.
The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial.
The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.
When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you..
Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man.
It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.
The judge sentences you to life in prison.
This case really happened.
On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second.
In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term...
How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.
This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.
The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns..
Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.
Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerfordmass shooting in 1987.
Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw.
When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.
The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions.
(The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school.
For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals.
Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners.
Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns.
The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearms still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism.
Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.
Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.
Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,
"We cannot have people take the law into their own hands."
All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times,
and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences.
Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.
When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities.
Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law.
The few who didn't were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply.
Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens.
How did the authorities know who had handguns?
The guns had been registered and licensed.
Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?
We - law-abiding firearms owners in the United States - are being attacked. War has been declared on US. Harsh words, but the damn truth.
You know it as well as I: This isn't about making America safer from gun violence.
There's no such thing as a "high cap clip" and "assault weapon" is a gun-grabber make believe term to make rifles sound evil.
I like semi-automatic or modern sporting rifle and standard capacity magazine (referring to whatever number of rounds the original factory magazine holds). A magazine that holds more rounds than originally designed is an extended magazine.
If there is a registry it will be one where people will be asked to volunteer the information under the fear of consequences such as fines and jail time.
Here's an official letter from all 29 of the counties of the great FREE state of Utah Sheriff's association to Barack "Hussein" Obama, our??? president. Glad to see we're, (Utahans), taking the lead on this. A few sheriff's in other states were first but we're the first state to be united. Gotta go clean guns now so stay tuned. HA! And pay particular attention to the last paragraph.
UTAH SHERIFFS' RESPONSE TO PRES. OBAMA :
The Honorable Barack Obama President of the United States of America The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20500
"Dear President Obama: ... "We, the elected sheriffs of Utah, like so many of our fellow Americans, are literally heartbroken for the loved ones of the murdered victims in Connecticut. As Utahans, we are not strangers to this kind of carnage—one of the latest being the 2007 Trolley Square murders wherein nine innocents were gunned down—five losing their lives.
"We also recognize the scores of other recent domestic massacres, which have decimated countless honorable lives. As Americans, we value the sanctity of life. Furthermore, similar to our inspired Founders, we acknowledge our subservience to a higher power.
"With the number of mass shootings America has endured, it is easy to demonize firearms; it is also foolish and prejudiced. Firearms are nothing more than instruments, valuable and potentially dangerous, but instruments nonetheless. Malevolent souls, like the criminals who commit mass murders, will always exploit valuable instruments in the pursuit of evil. As professional peace officers, if we understand nothing else, we understand this: lawful violence must sometimes be employed to deter and stop criminal violence. Consequently, the citizenry must continue its ability to keep and bear arms, including arms that adequately protect them from all types of illegality.
"As your administration and Congress continue to grapple with the complex issue of firearm regulations, we pray that the Almighty will guide the People's Representatives collectively. For that reason, it is imperative this discussion be had in Congress, not silenced unilaterally by executive orders. As you deliberate, please remember the Founders of this great nation created the Constitution, and its accompanying Bill of Rights, in an effort to protect citizens from all forms of tyrannical subjugation.
"We respect the Office of the President of the United States of America. But, make no mistake, as the duly-elected sheriffs of our respective counties, we will enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights—in particular Amendment II—has given them. We, like you, swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation."
Rick a: "There's no such thing as a "high cap clip" and "assault weapon" is a gun-grabber make believe term to make rifles sound evil."
"I like semi-automatic or modern sporting rifle and standard capacity magazine (referring to whatever number of rounds the original factory magazine holds). A magazine that holds more rounds than originally designed is an extended magazine"
Agreed Rick and as a good example, if I'm reading you right, is Rugers bolt action "Scout" rifle. A sporter with no appearance of an "assault" rifle but with a ten round removable magazine. Good catch my friend.
The 'lists' will be used as they will. it is of note that 'Al Quiada' means 'the base'.... and Excell/Access data base programs in the east are called 'Quiada'
The DSHS has been collecting gun ownership information for over ten years - and they are NOT prohibited from continuing to collect it under the PPACA. Registration and Control Might as well get the ear tag with the number on it - they believe we are nothing more than livestock - cattle for cannon fodder.
All they need is a 'little' probably cause - and hello access to information of the over 100 'Fusion' Intell centers *which are NOT national Intell Centers under independent oversight. Black Budgets, Open Rampant Access. Makes EPIC look like kindegarten. (El Paso Intelligence Center - they were the first fusion center to combine ATF, Border Control, DEA, FBI, with military Intell Units for the purpose of 'protecting' the border).....
Remember there are 257 sovereign and independent Chinese Domestic entities where NONE of the Federal rules apply; upto and including the Constitution. You want SKS and 30+round mags.... um yeah - they exempt
do not be fooled - the regulations are only for the sheep that follow them.
The Government is content to label returning vets, and those that advocate a smaller government - as enemies of the state; how long do you think before those purges start ?.... If he keeps to the Lenin time frame - with in two years of capital currency failure
It comes It rhymes enough to smell the stench downwind.
I feel I must say a few things. I am very disapointed in the way things are in America I saw this coming like a freight train 4 yrs ago AND SOME TIMES IT REALY SUCKS TO BE RIGHT.
While I, of course, gave away all my guns for Christmas, I am considering buying a few dozen spare high end springs and followers for AR mags. Just to have spares for buddies. I've already checked to see what modifications are required to restrict an AR mag to only 7 rounds. A plastic filler block does the trick, allowing "legal" ( but unconstitutional ) capacity with "classical" styling.
There may be a small market for such conversions. It will be interesting to see if "legal function & traditional styling" causes a reaction in the Gov's office. If I get on the news, well, it was nice living in a free country.
On an unrelated note, a 3D printer looks like my next toy, hopefully next month. That plus a small Lathe/Mill combo tool should let me do some hobby stuff.
I will be going to my shoop and dig out my old mini lathe I plan to machine a dove tail in the end of each clip where by I can atach two together and snap apart when needed,
If I were to buy a non AR rifle now I would look long and hard at the Mossberg MVP. Shoots .223 and can take AR mags all in a bolt action rifle with a free floating barrel.
