Alright, I have a roof leak and found it is coming from nail holes from the metal flashing that is covering the roof edge. My roof in that section of the house is 1 sided, not the typical upside down "V" but "/" shaped. The flashing wraps from over top the shingles, around the end of the beams to the siding. Since I am going to rip the ceiling out and replace all the insulation and the builder didn't provide a air space between the insulation and plywood I want to add one. Currently the flashing doesn't have a "ridge" vent, does any company make "ridge" vents for a 1 sided roof? |

I'd just use the regular ridge vent and cap the high side with metal. |

I would also use the normal ridge vent and possibly overlap the shingles on the flat side. Cover all exposed nail holes (and all of the ones in the metal flashing exposed or not) with roof tar or another product specifically for this (I used gutter seal in a tube). Here is a link to another option: http://www.cedarbureau.org/installation-and-mainte nance/roof-manual/page-17.asp |

Crackhead - architect here. send me a PM and I can detail/spec something up for you really quick. It's pretty straightforward, but a sketch would be easier than trying to describe. -Chris |
