Assault Weapons are a small sub-set of Rifles. ------------------------------------------------- Nope. That's part of the propaganda.
There is no such thing as an assault weapon.
[I]t is a unicorn. A pixie. [A]nything you want it to be.
There IS a thing called an Assault Rifle...
NO "Assault weapon" ban has ever had a thing to do with assault rifles. Not Clinton's not Cuomo's, not anyones.
Assault Rifles have nothing what so ever to do with this.
Assault Weapons are the name of whatever they want to ban. Period. ------------------------------------------------- Regarding the term "Assault Weapons", I must confess to thinking of "Assault Rifles" whenever this term was used in political discussions. Boy, was that naive on my part! As Aesquire has pointed out, I now realize the term "Assualt Weapons" is a duplicitous political term so broad, it can mean anything used for assualt, much less guns. I have been educated. Now, it is fun (OK, not really) listening to the current political "debate" about "Assault Weapons"!
Perhaps duplicitous political terms might make another good thread topic? "Assault Weapons" "Deficit Reduction" (Why are we not talking about Deficit ELIMINATION?!) "Balanced Approach"
fahren good post. saw a similar vid yesterday. . and as 'he' says "we're not going to take your guns". yeah i believe that from a guy that's voted against the second amendment every time in ill.
The right of the People to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED..
The same document that gives them any authority says this, If they choose to // attempt \ to revoke this right, then perhaps WE THE PEOPLE must revoke their authority.
in the end it is either a silly emotional NINNY or a fascist / Socialist / or other tyrant seeking power.
Send the Boy back to Hawaii to play golf and let the adults run the country Oh he can take Biden with him! Biden is a old pervert. If the SS wasnt with him he would get slapped for feeling up half the women he meets
"Hot Seat with Bill Whittle: Should We Comply If Obama Issues Executive Order on Guns?"
Civil disobedience?
I have a few personal observations. My Grandfather was In Norway for the Invasion in WW2. I had other relatives who were killed by the Germans, not for being "resistance" ( though some of them were ) but by the policy that the Germans had ( older than Rome, this one was ) where they would round up the men of the village, and shoot some, when they had been attacked by the resistance. ( the classic Roman system was "decimation" where you kill every 10th guy, and hope the others catch on that fighting Rome was a loser game )
Why didn't the Norwegians fight back en mass? They had disarmed themselves. Guns for the Militia, the Adult males, were kept at the armory in town. The socialist National Unity workers party guys in Norway ( The Term Quisling comes to mind... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quisling ) were at the armory, and had all the guns.
The policy of killing villagers as reprisal for resistance action led to great resentment against the resistance, and many betrayals. Between those actions and some really bizarre stuff I won't get into, Norway has had some deep issues and resentments that we in a never conquered Nation can't really understand. Closest reference is the Civil war where brother fought brother and there lingers regional dislikes after more than a century.
Some Norwegians had private guns. Hunting was still a common thing, at least in the country, and many folk had rifles. All legally registered in the town hall. WHEN the Nazi's came and politely asked for those registered guns, mostly, almost always, it was a polite and civilized undertaking. One reason was that the German's were not stupid, and came, politely, collecting guns, with enough backup for the door kicking, overwhelming firepower, ruthless side of man to keep things nice and polite.
After the war, they publicly burned all records, and passed around a bunch of leftover guns for people to stash.
Today of course, Norway is properly European civilized, registered guns and all mandatory meaningless restrictions... But I wonder about all those Sten guns.
Now that bit of history won't happen here. Not the same way. We won't be invaded by Nazi's that will take our guns away and leave the homes burning behind them of those who...."resisted". Nor can the North Koreans drop paratroops, nor would Canada ever do more than take a few northern states when the US breaks up.....
But when Any government gets to the jack booted thugs stage..... Goes Authoritarian, ( pick your political flavor ) and starts kicking doors to take guns, ( and Authoritarian Regimes always do ) the homes will still burn. ( Tear gas grenades almost always start house fires.... That's why the one guy in the SWAT team stick has a fire extinguisher )
It might be a good idea to not be all panic stricken. Perhaps write your Congress guy? Check his web site?
After studing our curent state of afairs I have decided that you should never go to war to destroy a country (cost of war and loss of lives is to great) Put a democrat in charge and they will never recover.
I know we are all worried about our 2nd amendment rights but lets not turn that into something awful by making or believing absurd conspiracy theories.
I don't really care about Sandy Hook. Really. I don't. It is pure media masquerovka - had it not been Sandy Hook, it would have been some other place, some other 'massacre'. It is all but window dressing on the agenda they have been pushing
remember - this is the administration that wanted to protect the safety of kids from led poisoning by banning mini bikes ..... these are NOT intelligent people - and they have entirely too much power.
I see in the nightly news that New York craped on thier citizens to day ---honest citizens =7 rds criminals=what ever they want. we must move with caution be careful what you vote for.
Why does that looks so familiar? History sure has a way of rhyming. Roughly 300 men, women, and children at Wounded Knee. No, it could never happen here.
Sooo glad I don't live in ny. 7 round magazines only and get fined if you DON'T get rid of the 30 round mags you have? I'm sorry, but wtf were they thinking?
New York’s new laws will expand the state's ban on assault weapons and include new measures to keep guns away from mentally disturbed individuals. Under the new law, ammunition magazines would also be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10 -- owners caught with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge. The law also prohibits Internet sales of assault weapons and in another provision, a therapist who thinks a mental health patient is making a credible threat to use a gun illegally would be required to report the incident to the state.
Looks like somebody here had a little bit of common sense, but I haven't read the entire bill yet either.
"Any federal law, rule, regulation, or order created or effective on or after January 1, 2013 shall be unenforceable in the state of Missouri if the law, rule, regulation or order attempts to: (1) Ban or restrict ownership of a semi-automatic firearm or any magazine of a firearm; or (2) Require any firearm, magazine, or other firearm accessory to be registered in any manner."
I wonder how that 7 round magazine rule gets applied to revolvers. There are 8 and 10 shot revolvers. Maybe we shouldn't educate them about that though.
if the North would had not had weapons to fight the south, this would be a very different country. if we would not had weapons to fight the brits we would be a different country. the 4 fathers were right to have the 2nd amendment.
" Andrew Cuomo and Barack Hussein Obama are two best gun salesmen in the history of the world." - Jim Hanley while waiting in line at the Buffalo Gun Center.
""The arming of the whole proletariat with rifles, guns, and ammunition should be carried out at once [and] the workers must ... organize themselves into an independent guard, with their own chiefs and general staff. ... [The aim is] that the bourgeois democratic Government not only immediately loses all backing among the workers, but from the commencement finds itself under the supervision and threats of authorities behind whom stands the entire mass of the working class" VI Lenin 1890
Barack Obama 2013 Put forward a series of proposals that is not limited to one legislative action, and I don’t think he believes, I know he doesn’t believe that even if everything that he moves forward were acted on, made law when it comes to legislative action or acted on in other ways that we would eliminate gun violence in America, And throughout his time in office he has made clear that he believes we ought to take commonsense and enact commonsense measures that protect our Second Amendment rights but prevent people who should not have weapons from obtaining them. So his commitment to the Second Amendment I think is very clear,” via mouthpiece Carney
after the Red Oktobre Revolution ; Lenin did indeed confiscate guns from the nation and begin a bloody purge of all that opposed him through execution, exile, 'excommunication from the Party' or 'disappearing' those against him....or those powerful enough to be a challenge to his leadership.
Even the Dems don't think the Gun Control Measures that Obama wants will pass the SENATE which is controlled by the Dems. That makes me breath a little easier. In the end I think all we will see is legislation around background checks.
Also, I read all the "orders" that Obama signed today. I didn't really have an issue with them. They seam to basically be about enforcing gun laws already on the books which is what most gun rights advocates have been saying for years. It also has some safety measures and mental health items.
I did like this one ...
18. "Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers."
A Resource Officer is typical a uniformed police office. Sounds like maybe Obama didn't think armed guards was a bad idea after all.
ah, you mistake 'resource' officer. As a third of this is tied into the PPACA. Kindergarten classes will soon be asked "How many here have parents that have dangerous guns at their house?" The resource officer will follow up, to remove them for childrens safety.
so the 'gun control' measure is now tied to the health care reform measure.....
This is the logic you will be encountering: "I hate the bouncy houses. I mean, I really hate them; I get a sick, nervous stomach when the boys are inside them. And it’s created a parenting perplexity for me. See the photo? I bet my HR is about 160 and my BP 150/90 (translation: high). I’m not kidding, I have a visceral and then flight-type response when the boys jump.... .... supported by her own words First off, remember, I can’t find isolated data and vetted information on bouncy houses. If you can, please paste it in the comments. When I didn’t find it in medical spaces, I googled about bouncy houses. That just made me more nervous–not entirely helpful. Therefore, I can’t ultimately substantiate my fears (with large data sets) with information specific to the inflatables. However, I am concerned about bouncy houses in the same corner of my brain that I am concerned about trampolines."
I can't find any viable statistics, I just don't like them and think they are dangerous ..... now go back and replace 'bouncy house' with 'assault rifle'..... These are the idiots in charge, make no mistake; fear ridden sheeple
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
I find that one quite fascinating. So it's BO's position that you have no right to privacy with regards to a threat of possible violence against someone else, but at the same time, the actual taking of the life of an unborn baby in the doctors office is protected on the basis of privacy. Something's really wrong there.
