Who "OK's" that kind of spending?.........750 million more rounds of ammo ordered. Yeah,I know,it's a "scare video" ....but begs the question...in who's hands does this ammo end up with? Will they use it as intended or go home with it and protect their own family?
When I was in Federal Law enforcement in the 80s and 90s I used about 1500 to 2000 rds a year qualifying and during training. The SWAT guys used about 5 times that. And they always gave you extra, I have boxes and boxes of LEO 9mm and .38 +p+ JHP.
In 2008 there were about 120 thousand Federal LEO authorized to carry.
So even back then they were using about 250 million rds a year.
Up here in Alaska DHS gives you ammo if you complete a hunter training course. Its done in partnership with some other agencies. Not sure how that fits but its a better explanation than "civil war"
Seems odd that I should have to protect myself with less rounds than a trained officer is expected to protect me with. Am I expected to be a better marksman? I assume we aren't talking about the SWAT teams.
Yes the street officers all carried full capacity mags for their weapons.
I personally prefer a single stack mag for myself so I carried an HK P7M8. It was much better suited for the old clothes work I was involved in and if fit my hand more comfortably.
video narrator is an idiot - training ammo has to be the same as duty ammo for officers to qualify each year. That is the train as you fight principle.
We spend a million $ a year on training ammo for only 7,000 members
the FBI have an annual Billion dollar ammo budget
pointless video - worse than pointless - misleading and inflamatory
