We need to send this to CONgress. I'd rather have them blow smoke up our collective a$$es than "solve" the problems with this "fiscal cliff" May god deliver us from our representatives and their "solutions" http://blubabalu.blogspot.com/2011/09/stimulation- of-respiration-through.html

Is that John Boehner wearing the tall hat?
quote:All Animals are created equal; but some are more equal than others
-Animal Farm by George Orwell They get 100% pay and 100% free medical coverage for life, but they will gladly cut Social Security and Medicare benefits for the people who have been paying into the system for them for decades. You can blame Obamalamadingdong if you want, but it's every one of those fat cat parasites who are responsible. And they sure deserve that raise they just voted themselves, don't they? Like the naked guy with a pie over his crotch, "I,m f**king dis custard". |

1. Congress, in this case, means the entire legislative branch, to include the Dem controlled Senate. So direct some anger there as well. However... 2. They did not vote themselves a raise. Obama, via executive order, removed the federal pay freeze. This means that the automatic pay increases for federal employees is free to go into effect. Congress critters are federal employees. It helps to read beyond the headlines. |

The retirement benefits for Congress people as I understand it is contingent upon them completing a full term. So they basically get a full pension and health benefits after 2-6 years, that most federal employees have to work 30-40 years to acquire. (My numbers are estimations so don't hate). Their benefits should be amortized to accrue over a typical full career of a federal employee. So if you work for 4 years you get a 4% pension payable at your minimum retirement age as defined in social security regs, and if you decide to make it a career and can get yourself voted in for the next 40 years, you have earned a reasonable pension just like any other federal employee. There shouldn't be any benefits at all. Serve your term, go back home. Career politicians are what's wrong with the government. Well, one of the things. |

My New Years Resolution is to rid our congress of those worthless Republicans! This is the worst Congress in our history of our country! your ignorance and bias are showing The republican controlled house has generated and passed several bills that are "Dead" in (D) Harry Reid's Pocket over in the senate, So I think its safe to say that the issue resides on both sides of the isle Spend some time watching C-SPAN vs NASCAR Most of the CRAP that goes on is posturing, Boenher seems to be genuine on finding a middle ground, Commissar Obama does not This is a repeat of the debit ceiling crisis and who was it in the white house that said? "I love a good crisis!" We have done this to ourselves by electing officials who don't get it. The obamanites have their wish 4 more years Happy 2013 =)} |

LT and others, Voting is our non violent enema, Petition and recall is another the final step is outright revolution Reforms may save us. Consider these ideas 2 terms limit for house, senate, Prez ( max 25 years of service ) No bennies, no insider trading / deals, legislators are subject to all of the laws and rules they pass ( you get to deal with the sucky new health care too. ) lobbying / gifts forbidden. AF1 for state matters only, train or buss for election You pay for it. You can miss no more than 45 days of session for re-election Pres is limited to 4, 1 week vacations per year To qualify for any appointment or elected position your taxes must be paid or a settlement in the works Bureaucrats, wasting money or abusing their positions are subject to steep fines and prison no exceptions. Coverup go to jail [ Benghazi, F&F, Solyndra ] |

I vote for Oldog's plan. Term limits and let them, no make them retain whatever employment they had prior to being elected. No full boat pay and bennies. Give them a stipend for days actually spent in session. Term limits would go a long way towards limiting the sphere of influence and corruption that is rampant. The original intent was a government of common people that would return to their private business after serving the people. |

Terms Limits are great but how do you get them passed, implemented, etc. Do you think those aholes will vote for Term Limits. These are all career politicians. Why would they vote to shorten their own career? |

Funny, but many years ago Michigan citizens voted in term limits, it worked...for all state and local officials...but it did not work for the career politicians like out wonderful Senator Carl (Karl) Levin and his brother Sander Levin. They like the Kennedys are in for life. Some how they made an arrangement that term limits were only meant for everybody but federal elections! Go figure... The elite exempt themselves from the common mans law... |

Cyclonedon, if you want a legislature free from republican influence come on over to California. You may find it's not the people's paradise you'd expect it would be. Heck, I'll even make you a deal on a 2000 sq.ft. house on 2.5 acres if you're serious. My business property is for sale too so you can get right down to business of spreading the wealth. |

Take out all the democraps while you're at it.

Because we get so many worthwhile choices on who to elect. :P As far as this fiscal cliff bullshit, keep the tax cuts going. It's really just a drop in the bucket for our deficit, so might as well let me keep more of the money I earn. It's all going to fund stuff I absolutely disagree with anyhow. And end the fraud that is social security while you're at it - thousands of dollars robbed from me that I'll never see. |

I watched Boenher being sworn in, not entirely shure that 4 terms would not be ok, BUT what got my attention was in his speech if he was serious, were comments about being leaders and servants, not there to be served The latest is long over due, no more closed door meetings with the clown prince of STUPID Things to follow due process, in the open well Said John Boenher .. |

Strokizator, Cyclonedon lives in Illinois. And me too. We have had Democrats in power for decades. We are near bankruptcy, 4 out of the last 5 governors were sent to prison, (two are currently in prison), Senator J.Jackson Jr, had not been to work since June of last year, under Federal investigation and gets reelected. The list goes on and on. Can't blame Republicans for the Illinois mess. Blame should probably be placed on the idiot voters who keep electing these morons. |
