And after the party, I let the horse run free for a few minutes.

THOSE were the pics I was hoping for! That thing looks like TOO much fun, especially when you could hook up the whole kiddie train- why in the heck didja sell it? Being able to wheelie/burnout a Flex Flier... PRICELESS!!! FWIW, I imagine you DO remember how to build one again, right? I'd LOVE to see a rig like that show up at one of our imfamous "fiddy" races!!! |

The trick to making the wagons survive the train act, is in the flat steel links running the length of the train connected at the center of every axle on the non powered wagons. When you hit the throttle the links behave like a chain pulling every axle at the same time. This keeps the stress off the tubs. The trailer tongues and wagons only serve as a backup path for the energy if the steel link system fails. I was very concerned with safety when I knew kids would be riding. I wore a headset and used two way radios with spotters. We had special codes worked out so that I knew what the passengers were doing. One trip out, I got the signal for a kid leaning over the side looking under the wagon. Chopped throttle and rolled past an assistant that snatched him out of the car, then off the rest of us went while he got a safety talk. We placed him in the last car on the next run. When kids weren't around I'd ride in the second wagon while Noah drove.
This shows the muffler in place of the open header, the air filter, and the Comet Torq-A-Verter. The service wagons are hooked up. (fuel, oil, tools, and cooler had their own trailers. Total wagon train with service trailers was 14 wagons long for a total of 56 wheels. The throttle was with your right thumb and brake was with your left foot. |

Ourdee, you're one crazy, twisted dude. I like that. +1! RD, that little red wagon is uber-cool. 50mph in it's original form sounds scary fun I've always liked the idea of a prone bike, like a racing sidecar without the third wheel... weight would be low, wind resistance would be low, but cornering clearance would always be a compromise. From your different bikes it seems a recumbent is much more usable. Thanks for posting all the pics and sharing their stories |
