Thought you folks might like to see my first real attempt at putting some video together. I used a DIY chest harness for an iPhone, and the static camera is a little Canon A2200. The trail is in a State Forest in Brisbane about 20 minutes drive from home.
Do you ever ride in the snow? I've seen some setups with big tires and spikes, I'm guessing it'd be very different. It's getting pretty warm here, over 30°C most days, and really humid ... I'm on holidays until next thursday so riding as much as I can despite the heat
You can ride in a couple of inches, especially if it is soft. But just like trying to ride on a cycle, once that front tire starts pushing much the rear starts sliding. Some guys around here have those fat tire bikes but I haven't tried one in the snow. Your video gave a good feeling for the speed of the ride. I liked how you set up the stationary camera for the other perspective. My wife made me turn down the audio since she was on the phone with our daughter.
Ok, sounds challenging. I'd like to try one of the fat bikes, apparently there are some guys down the coast from here that ride them on the beaches.
I'll take some pics of the harness tomorrow. It's a mix of a couple of clear acrylic sheets and some foam to hold the iphone plus some more foam in between the sheets to adjust the angle.
Pics of the harness. It's basic but effective. I adjust the foam pieces to get the right angle to look down the trail. I need to drill some vent holes in the acrylic as the iPhone overheated on one warm day.
