OK, I had Comcast/XFinity at my old house for 17 years with no issues. Fed from a Maryland-based location. I moved last year. Stuck with XFinity, but now fed from a PA location. NOTHING but trouble. Sick of the BS, sick of their "customer service", and looking at options. I'm fine with basic cable TV, don't need movie channels or anything like that. Bundle it with my internet. No home phone for years, and I'm fine without telemarketer BS...but cell service is a little spotty so it might be nice to have a landline again. Thoughts? FiOs/Verizon? They use DirecTV, it looks like. Any other ideas? Good experiences with companies? Bad? |

Quest offers a bundle that includes dish tv, dsl and lan line phone. All basic plans but the bundle is aprox $85 per month. Here is the catch and the loophole; It's a 1 year discount on a 2 year contract. The loophole exists only if you are a long time quest customer. It is that at the end of 1 year you call them and ask, they will extend the discount for another year. You can do this every year forever. Again, this only works if you are a long time customer. |

Direct tv has worked great for me here in PA, my internet is through Frontier communications . Try them depending where you live. |

I guess I'm still nervous about satellite...reception and storm-blockage still issues? Or have those been overcome? I still lose my Sirius under even moderate tree cover... |

Had a choice here between comcast and Knology. I went with Knology. So far no complaints. |

I have direct TV. If the weather blocks the satellite, or snow is on your dish, it's not their problem. they are not responsible for "acts of god". And you will not be reimbursed for downtime. Maybe dish is better? |

With any dish service, you need to make sure you have a clear cut in the tree line and the dish does not even wiggle in cat3 winds. After that, you will not have any issues with reception. If you keep high speed internet, you can get a home Verizon "Tower" that works over your exiting internet. I was having all sorts of trouble with comcrap until the tech searched for the section of line that was letting noise in. I am guess the signal to noise ratio is to high can the tech are lazy and trying to get away with not running a new line. You can look at the router stats at 192.168.100.1 |

If you can get Verizon Fios fiber service (Not DirecTV)that is what I would get but I am biased as I repair the equipment that makes it work. |
